THEY WERE MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES LATE TO THE MEETING. All eyes were on them as they scurried in, Rhaenerys hastily fixing her dress whilst Robb sauntered in, pretending that nothing had happened. He was good at keeping a poker face, apologizing while Daenerys stared at them disapprovingly.
To ease the tension, Rhaenerys quickly came up with a lie. "We apologize for being late-we had an appointment with the Maester."
"The Maester?" Daenerys questioned.
"For the babe," Rhaenerys explained, and it seemed that this was enough to wipe the disapproval from Daenerys' face and she nodded.
"Very well. Have a seat."
She gestured to two open seats left for Robb and Rhaenerys, right next to Ned and Jon.
On the opposite side sat Daenerys' council, consisting of Missandei, Ser Jorah, and Ser Barris. Guarding the doors were Grey Worm and Wymrot, but upon seeing her old friend and protector, Rhaenerys beamed.
Ser Barris gave her wink as she sat right across from him.
Then settling in, Rhaenerys turned to Daenerys as she began to speak.
"I am sure you all have an idea of why you are here," The Dragon Queen began, "and if you don't, then it is because I wish to discuss the threat happening in the south. The false King Joffery that sits the throne, as well as the threat that is happening in the North. The walkers."
Rhaenerys shivered as she remembered the latter threat; the cold of the north and the terror of it all seeing all of those undead...creatures.
They weren't people, not anymore, and Rhaenerys had to admit: the threat in the south seemed like a joke compared to that.
Ned agreed. "I believe that the walkers in the north pose a greater threat than Joffery does, Your Grace," He spoke, "and if I may, I propose that we rid ourselves of them first before we even think of Joffery. Here, he will not be able to touch us which gives an advantage."
"An advantage?" Daenerys rose an eyebrow. "What advantages do we have with less men, less resources, and less time to prepare for war?"
"We are not in the path of the walkers, Your Grace," Jon Snow said. Rhaenerys looked to him. "And that makes all the difference. With them marching south, we have the advantage of them reaching Joffery first and not having to deal with them both. Once they advance upon the south, Joffery will be forced to dispatch his men and then our enemies will kill each other. Whoever remains will be significantly weaker, and that is when we can advance with the advantage of surprise, and healthy men."
Everyone stared at Jon as he proposed this, Ned looking slightly proud and Robb looking impressed. Daenerys did as well, though she did a better job at hiding it.
