Kayla stood in shock, confused but glad. 'Well are you getting in or not?' Parker said trying to get her to talk. She nodded yes and opened the car door and got in the passenger seat.

'So I thought you was the type of girl who was never late?' He said while driving off.

'I'm not, my alarm didn't go off.' She replied with a yawn after that. She was still so tired, even though she slept in. 'So what made you drive to school, I didn't even know you had a car'.

'I do but I don't use it much, besides my dad wants me to start getting to school on time, don't know if you noticed but yesterday I arrived late.'

Kayla looked to him, 'but I saw you walking the same time as me yesterday morning, how were you late?'.

'You saw me? Oh well I uh.. popped by my cousins house and lost track of time.' Parker had a little stutter when he said that. Like he didn't want to say it.

8:13AM
They came to a red light, and it was just silence. Since until another car pulled up beside them. A car Kayla immediately recognised.

In the black, old type of mustang, with paint wearing away, were two teenagers. The same age as Kayla and Parker. They went to the same school as them. Kayla were close with them both, well one mainly. Ruby Wilson and Spencer Payne.

Both the windows were rolled up so Parker asked Kayla what was going on, she just stared at him, confused and lost. Then Spencer rolled down his window and signalled Parker to roll down his.

'Following me now, are you, this is low even for you, and what now you got Kayla brainwashed?' Spencer was just talking loads of crap, while Ruby just sat there, trying to ignore Parker and Kayla.

'First off, how am I following you?, we pulled up to different lanes going the same direction to school, and secondly, Kayla ain't brainwashed and she can do what she wants, I ain't forcing her to do nothing.' Kayla could sense the anger forming in his words.

The lights turned orange, and Parker rolled up his window, while Spencer tried to shout at him. Parker then got ready for the lights to change and he put his arm in front of Kayla's body as he was about to speed of, leaving Spencer and Ruby behind.

8:18AM
As they pulled up in the schools car park, he was almost all calm. Kayla had put her hands on his, 'Thank you'.

That's all he needed to hear, those words took control of his emotions. That voice, the softness in it. He just met her yesterday, but when they first locked eyes, when he was in Mr Joseph's office, he felt safe looking at her. When he saw her this morning, walking alone down the street, he took that chance, and he made her feel safe. They made each other feel safe. He looked into her eyes, leant in closer, until their lips touched. A small kiss. They both needed it. They needed each other.
