Tuesday 21st May

4:42PM
It was quiet, everyone had sat down at the table, all claiming their seats.

Kayla's mother and father next to each other, with Freddie and Parker's father on each end of the table. Then opposite her mother and father was her.. and Parker. Sitting. Together. Close. Very close. So close that their hands were practically touching.

Silence grew, all you could hear were the noises from Freddie's video game.

'So umm how did you guys meet?' Said Parker, finally.

'Well, as you know I am the managing director of the Penny Hills Bank and I walked into a meeting where I saw a bunch of loan officers, that was when I met Sam. She was with her husband, Thomas at the end of the meeting and we all had a chat, became acquaintances, and agreed it would be nice to have a dinner together, to get to know each other' replied Harrison Monroe.

Mr Monroe looked at both Kayla's mother and father, with a weird smirk. Definitely knows where Parker gets it from now. Mr Monroe, had a suit on, a suit that showed he was not to be messed with.

'Wow, that's cool both working at the same bank' added a fake laugh. Kayla tried so hard to fit in with the conversation but she just couldn't. Parker looked at her as to say 'what are you even saying???' She caught on and shut up afterwards.

'Parker, I hear you've started at Penny Hills High school, have you met my daughter, Kayla?'. Samantha Cooper. DONT even.

'Uh yea I've met Kayla, we've hung out a few times' Parker said trying not to give in to too much detail.

'Well where were you today then, son, I got a call from the school that you never went to your lessons?' MR MONROE, literally the guy version of Samantha!

'Really? So did I.. about Kayla..' Samantha said as she turned to look to the both of the teenagers.

Thomas Cooper, the life-saver of the evening, asked Freddie to help him put the food on some plates as he heard the oven go off, trying to end the topic of the conversation. Unfortunately, the four of them were all left at the table.

'Did you two go out and skip school.. together?!' Mr Monroe said as his voice grew louder.

'Dad.. I can explain.' Parker said as he grabbed a hold of Kayla's hand under the table, trying to keep himself calm. 'We just wanted a break that's all.'

'A break?! Kayla Cooper, you do not need a break, you are handing school just fine, you do not need this boy ruining your grades!'

Mr Monroe and Mrs Cooper looked at each other and and apologised for their child's behaviour.

'I do need a break, you just can't see that because you have this huge expectation of me that I just can't compete with!' Kayla said as she stood up from the table.

'I can't with you! You are always stressing me out! It's always you! You're the reason I need a break from everything! Parker is not ruining my grades, in fact he's the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me! Me and him skipped school, so what. We did it together and we had the best time. I don't need you telling me what's wrong with my life, you should really just focus more on your life and your perfect make-believe family.'

4:56PM
Kayla left and went upstairs and slammed her door. 'Well umm dinners ready.' Mr Cooper said as he held the chicken in his arms.

'I think I should go check up on her... if that's ok with you..' Parker said as he looked up to Mrs Cooper.

'Fine, but I'm watching you, boy.'

Mr Monroe, Mrs Cooper, Mr Cooper and Freddie all sat to eat the chicken, everyone except the two lovebirds upstairs.
