Buck pov

It's day three of me not being home.

I get out my phone and open my messages app.

I read all the messages from my friends my sister and Bobby.

Everyone is really worried.

Bobby said that Athena is looking for me too.

I didn't expect everyone to be as concerned as they are i figured it wasn't a big deal i just went out for a couple days.

I realize I should've left a note or told someone or something and i didn't but every time someone else goes off like this everyone is worried but they dont have the cops actively look for them.

Why is it different because its me.

I start typing in the message box that ive just been staring at.

Its open to maddie's contact.

I try different combinations of words and none of them feel right.

I settle on one.

Hi maddie im sorry for ghosting everyone i went for a drive and went to that field we went to a while ago. I was only planning to go for one day and be back by the night of that day but obviously that didn't happen. I needed a break from everyone and everything im sorry. I didn't mean to worry everyone as much as i did. Don't come looking for me and dont send anyone else dont tell them where i am you can tell them that you heard from me but please i just need to be alone right now i want to come back soon but im not ready yet. Thank you for worrying and im sorry for scaring you and everyone else.

I press send and wait.

Maddie pov

Im on a call with someone when i feel my phone buzz in my pocket i ignore it until i can go on break.

The phone line disconnects once help arrives and i get out of my chair and go to the break room.

I take my phone out of my pocket and see bucks name on the screen.

I open the message and read it.

Im so glad hes ok.

Im happy he told me.

Now to tell everyone else.

If I tell them that i heard from him they'll ask what he said but he told me not to tell them where he is.

I open a text with chim.

Hey i heard from buck he told me where he is but he told me not to tell anyone where he is because he doesnt want anyone to go looking for him. I don't know what to do do i tell everyone that i heard from him or do i tell them where he is? I am not going looking for him because i respect that he doesnt want anyone looking for him but if i tell everyone else they will definitely go looking for him.

I send the message and wait for a reply.

I don't know maddie you're right that they'd ask where he is and go looking for him. If it was me i think i might mention that i heard from him but that he just said he was ok. With no other details.

Me:
Thank you that was really helpful ill let bobby know and he can tell everyone else

I open my texts with bobby.

Me:
Good morning i heard from buck again he was just letting me know hes still safe and all good i thought I would let you know and you can tell everyone else and chim already knows.

Bobby:
Thats great news maddie thank you for letting me know i will be sure to let the team know.

Buck pov

Maddie responds with the most sisterly response telling me that she's glad im safe and she thanks me for telling her where i am.

After i see maddies response i open someone else's contact.

I start typing

Hey.

I press send.

Hi started writing a new chapter so I'll give you this one I'm still going to leave the book titled as on pause but figured I would give a new chapter as it's been a few months sorry things have been crazy with school and my personal life I'm starting to figure it out but still need some time I don't have many ideas for this story so that's also why I've been away
