I finally lay down on my bed to rest.
I haven't been pregnant for long but one of my biggest symptoms is being tired. I feel like it becomes worse by the day. I do feel so much calmer now that I am staying with Catalina. It didn't take much for Eric to not put up a fit for it. Cat even came over and assured him that I would be safe and in great hospitality with her. He accepted with the condition that I have bodyguards around me when I leave the house. I don't mind or care, so I accepted as well.
I'm about to close my eyes and take a quick nap when there is a soft knock on my door. I lightly sigh, sitting up as I call for the person to enter. My mother walks in with a light smile on her lips. I watch as she closes the door and then comes to sit beside me.
Eric and I told my family and his about my pregnancy before we announced it to the public. The Donnelley's are billionaires, so they obviously announced it just like how they announced my wedding. They make it seem like our relationship is real and like we are a happy and loving couple. We have to look perfect to not mess up their reputation.
My parents and grandmother were very happy along with Andrew and Tatiana. The guilt I felt telling Eric's mother that she would be a grandmother was unexplainable. I felt so bad for her and the fact that she raised such a monster. She seems so happy and excited that it hurts me to see.
"How are you feeling, querida?" Mama looks at me with genuine concern.
"I'm okay just a little tired." I return her soft smile.
"You don't know how happy I am that I am going to be grandmother again." She looks down at my flat stomach.
I think back on yesterday and how Ace did the same. I hate hurting him but it's for his own good. I felt like the shittiest human being when I lied to him about our baby. He doesn't deserve it at all not when all he has done was love me and try to help me break free. His disappointment felt like a stab. The way he is hurting makes never want to look him in the eyes. I don't know if I ever will be able to.
I was a bitch to him yesterday because I needed him away. If the guards would have seen me with him, they would have informed Eric within seconds, and I don't know what would have happened. Everything that I am doing is to protect him, the people I love, and now my baby.
"I don't understand why you're living here with Catalina. You have a beautiful home and a husband who would undoubtedly take care of you and the baby." Mama breaks me from my thoughts. If only she knew.
"What's wrong?" She immediately asks before I get to respond to her previous comment.
"Nothing why?" I immediately respond to her with a smile.
"Lucia, you're my daughter. I know you well and I can tell when you're sad. You have a certain in look in your eyes when you are."
"Que te pasa, hija?" She takes my hands in hers.
