Five days. It had been five days since you last saw Johnny, stepping into the helicopter and watching it take off into the night until you couldn't. It's also the same amount of time that you've spent avoiding everyone, taking advantage of your medical leave by hiding out in Johnny's room. The space gave your mind some reprieve from your mates who remained on base with you, your heart is still angry at them for keeping secrets when you thought they would be the last to do so. Your head knew you would forgive them eventually but it still stung that after everything you had been through with Ghost, he would still consider hiding things from you. It has yet to work out well in his interest.
You leaned your back into the headboard on Johnny's bed, taking a swig from the liquor bottle he attempted to hide under his bed. He was awful at hiding things.
Your dogs were snoozing away on the floor by the door and you watched them for a moment before looking back to the phone in your hand. Ghost had gotten it for you when you were unconscious in the hospital, considering you'd left your old one in the blast of the last mission. He even went as far as setting it up for you, your contacts were in there and he had picked photos for your lock and home screen.
He even unblocked his phone number from your account. You had forgotten you even did that in the first place.
Once Johnny left, your mates tried to console you with reasons for their actions but you hadn't had the energy for any of it. Instead, you told them you wouldn't be angry forever but you needed space and they needed to respect that, and you. They were aware that you needed time to process their wrongdoings and had already sent you several messages to reiterate the fact.
Both Konig and Ghost sent you paragraphs of apologies, stating they'd never hide anything from you again. Attempting to protect you or not. Their words were appreciated but that didn't mean you had to reply to them. There was only one person who you stared at this phone for. Johnny hadn't called at all since he's been gone.
Price assured you everything was fine, but you could tell he said that for you. He was stressed enough as it was, seeing as Gaz was next sent on an undercover mission of his own. Something was happening, and it was big enough that only the people directly involved in the mission knew anything surrounding it.
The notification sound of your phone had you nearly dropping it before frantically bringing it to your face, only to feel slight disappointment that it was Ghost and Konig. You clicked on the unlock button, admiring the photos Ghost and Konig took for your phone. The lock screen was Konig carrying Lynx in both arms with him on his back and his tongue lolling out to the side. Ghost was your home screen, he had Onyx in a mirror selfie. He was holding the dog with one arm as his paws wrapped around his neck and they both looked into the camera. Upset as you were, the photos of them alone made your heart flutter. You opened the group chat they had made for the three of you.
Big Mate: Love, come out of that room. Please at least eat dinner.
Bigger Mate: We can have a movie night. I'll build you a fortress
You: You mean a fort?
Bigger Mate: No, only a fortress for you will do.
You Maybe later
Just as you put the phone down, the notification sound went off again. You picked it up, figuring it would be the duo again, shocked to see Johnny's name lighting up the device. The phone nearly dropped from your hands, your fingers fumbling to catch it before it hit the floor, putting it to your ear instantly.
