It had been two weeks since the joining of you and your mates, nearly two weeks since you were discharged from the medical ward but placed on leave per your physician. At least until you could pass a physical, the shrapnel had collapsed a lung when removed, so anything that involved more than minor activity was a no-go for now.

Konig and Ghost had been all over you since that day, wanting to either tend to your wounds or treat you like glass, which was ironic considering how rough they'd taken you the first time. The fact brought you back to thoughts of them returning you to your bed in the medical bay, your doctor commenting congrats on now being mated.

Despite feeling like you went pale, you'd fully blushed red, asking him how on earth he knew that. Apparently, your blood chemistry changes when you mate, who knew? Well, not you, but Ghost and Konig were well aware of the fact, smirking from their spots near you as you narrowed your eyes at them. There was a lot they could tell you weren't taught about mates, and they were happy to either teach you or watch you discover the facts yourself.

That memory was lost on you as fast as it started, and you shook your head while you continued your mission down the halls of the base. It was later, Ghost and Konig would be in the gym at this time and you could feel their adrenaline through your bonded connection, confirming the fact. You needed them distracted and away from you, this was one of the only times they would do so.

Johnny had yet to visit you again, had yet to answer your texts, and was never in the places he usually was. He was distant, leaving you alone and ignoring you, traits that were very unlike him. He was always bugging you, you were the one who needed to tell him to get lost and he would laugh and ignore your request, finding more ways to bother you.

Yet now, he was harder to find than Ghost, and it broke your heart that he was avoiding you. Ghost and Konig refused to talk about him. Each time you brought up the other man's name, jealousy would fill you from their own emotions along with anger. It confused you further, you were an adult who deserved answers.

You knocked on Johnny's door, awaiting a response that never came before trying once more. After silence met you again, you opened it, finding it unlocked. Once you stepped inside, your gut instantly felt off. It was tidy, way too tidy, he never made his bed since getting out of basic and always had piles of laundry everywhere. Now, it was pristine. Hell, even his open closet held practically nothing, and the laundry basket was cleared.

The discoveries sent your mind into fight or flight, something was wrong. His clothes are gone, not put away, gone. You turned out his door and moved as quickly as your injuries would let you, making your way to the base exit doors. You don't know how you knew, you just knew, Johnny was leaving. Maybe he had already left, yet you couldn't let yourself think that without desperation and grief filling you up that he could leave without a goodbye.

You had to remain as calm as possible, any tick of emotion that could signal distress would be immediately felt by your mates; who would be off to find you the second they did. This needed to be done alone, you would never get far if they caught you and found out what you were up to. The need to move, and quickly, was something you couldn't let overwhelm you, no matter how much it tried.

Turning the corner, you are suddenly gripped by someone's hands as they stop you, turning you to face them. Gaz looked down at you, a smile gracing his face before falling as he took you in, out of breath and a bit wide-eyed.
