Hello my lovely people! I hope you're all doing well and having a good start to your week ♡
I know it's been a few days since I uploaded a new chapter, so I figured I'd update you all on what's going on and what you can expect from me from here on out.
(If you don't care and want to get to the good stuff, keep on scrolling ◡̈ )
First off, thank you to everyone for all the feedback lately, it makes my heart so, so happy 🥹
As I mentioned a few chapters ago, I started a new job (woo 🤪) and it's been consuming a lot of my free time. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I am now being promoted into a higher position and will be training pretty extensively for the next few weeks.
That being said, you may not be getting as many updates from me. HOWEVER, the plot is pretty much finished! 🥳 I don't have much else planned beyond this except for maybe one or two more chapters.
This book has been a labor of love and I'm by no means done completely! Once the story is written fully, I'll be going back and rewriting some of my earlier chapters because I wrote some of them almost 9 months ago and have since grown as a writer.
I also have plans for another book which I will hopefully be putting out soon that involves masked men, haunted houses, and overall spooky vibes 👻 Head over to my TikTok @authorkmreese to see some previews and ideas I have for it! ♡
Thank you guys for your continued support and patience as I navigate my busy life. You mean the world to me and I hope you continue to stick with me through this journey 🥹
Enjoy!
The sound of the gun firing echoes into the night.
Everything slows around me as Jason stops fighting me, his face a mix of shock and pain. He rolls off of me, allowing me to finally get a full breath into my lungs. I sit up slowly and watch the blood saturate his shirt.
"What the fuck have you done?" Brett yells, pulling himself up onto the dock and placing himself next to Jason. His hands come up to the wound on Jason's chest, unsure of what to do. Everything starts to hit me as I look down at the gun in my hand.
I just fucking shot Jason.
As I try to calm myself down, Payton runs back down to the dock out of breath.
"They said they have help on the way but it might be a bit because we're so-" She stops mid-sentence, her eyes falling to her boyfriend who is slowly bleeding out onto the dock.
"Oh my god, oh my fucking god," she sobs, rushing over to kneel next to him. My heart shatters for her, but I know that if I hadn't done what I did, it would've been me laying there right now.
I look down at Silas who is still alert, but definitely a little weak and tired from exerting himself in the water and his shoulder bleeding out. Those cold eyes stare into mine, love overflowing out of them as he takes me in. Lifting his hand, he tucks a stray strand of my hair behind my ear and I tear up as he does.
"I'm sorry," I cry, shaking my head as I take in the gruesome scene around me.
"For what?" He questions, so relaxed you wouldn't think he's even been hurt. I glance around, gesturing to Jason and then to his shoulder.
He manages to sit up finally, grunting as he does. The gun is still in my hand and he takes it from me, allowing me to breathe a little easier. The moonlight shines down and illuminates the scar on his face along with the many bruises and cuts from his fight in the water with Brett.
