Chapter 28

Hope looked around, the brunette looked at her with a face of forgiveness knowing what had to happen was going to.

Liam smiled nervously, backing away from his sister. His hands stuffed in his pockets. "I'll be fine" Hope waved the two off, looking to Alaric without fear.

"I'll be here in a Flash if I need to" Liam warned, looking in to her eyes. "I know" She chuckled, thinking he was overreacting.

Once they shut the doors, her world was silent. Alaric stood there with his hands clasped infront of him, his eyes glancing to his cross bow. "Do you really want to shoot me?" She asked, raising her brows.

He shook his head, taking a step closer. Hope could hear his heart beat, it was steady. "You're dating my daughter" He stated fiercely, looking her over.

Sure Alaric always acted like her second father but there was always judgement between them, Hes read the stories, also fought against her father before. Although he claims to be a hero, to make everything equal as if he was the President he was still biased, especially towards her. He tried to hide it as best he could but Hope was mostly singled out, he was more afraid of her than her brother. He would never fully trust her, not with a thing and maybe one day that would hurt more than help.

"Yes sir" She spoke, standing from her bed to come before him. She raised her shoulders, looking up at the man to let him know she wasnt scared. He scoffed, a small smile peeking through his face. "I've never fully trusted you Hope but for what you've done for my family, for Josie. I have to say you have the heart of a hero" He held his hand out, his smile brightening "You're good enough"

Her face softened, thinking she had just been hearing him wrong. "I'm sorry what?" She asked, watching his hand fall to his side. "I know I havent been fair to you these past years but I do have trust for you, I believe you'll always take care of my Josie"

She blinked, a small smile could be seen on her usually blank face. "I'm pretty sure I love her, Alaric"

"I'm pretty sure you do too." He opened his arms, inviting her in for a hug. She gladly took it, wrapping her arms around the larger man. He tightened his grip, going to whisper in her ear. "But if you do hurt her, I will hunt you down till I know for a clear fact you're dead."

Her eyes widened, she had even pulled back from the hug. "But I'm sure it would never come down to that" He smiled, making his exit. "Thank you?" She said confused, not sure what to believe at the moment. "You're welcome, Mikaelson"

"Is she okay?" Maya asked, looking to Liam for answers. "Yeah" He nodded, walking the halls without a worry. "Are you?" She asked, looking him over. He paused, furrowing his brows. "Yeah?"

She nodded, letting the boy continue on his way. "Wait" She reached into her pocket, pulling out a piece of paper. "I—I've had this for a while" She sighed, handing over the folded piece of paper. "What is it?" He asked, looking down at it. "Something you'd probably like to read in private" She nudged him towards his room. He frowned "Its from Theo" She added. "Years ago."

His eyebrows raised with questions, her light smile helped to sooth his nerves. "Have you read it?" He asked, looking up at her as he took a seat on his bed. "Yes." She answered vaguely, shutting the boys door.

He wasnt sure of opening it, was it something bad? Why had Maya kept it from him. He sighed, knowing these answers would go unanswered unless he just unfolded the note.

Liam
This is hard for me to say but I have feelings for you. I know you'd never feel the same, that we'd never work out. I see how you look at her, that girl. How your eyes wander around her body, it hurts that I cant just feel that way for a girl, that my mind and body physically wont let me. But I had to tell you, to tell somebody something because its eating me up its tearing me apart the fact that I'd never have you because its embedded into your brain to like to opposite sex, not because I'm not everything you need. I know you better than your sister, I see you for more than a monster. I see you as Liam Mikaelson, how you control your anger with pride. You fight for the best in everyone, you seen there was good in me even when I didnt. I can do the same for you. If only you'd love me, if only we could be ...
