Stephanie's POV

I am so glad that I passed the interview, even though I didn’t exactly know how I passed. They were just asking a bunch of questions that I didn’t really understand; like ‘can you do this, why do you wanna do that, how can you do this?’ and so on.

But I got the job, and that’s what matters.

When I got out of the building, I was glad to see Nalia waiting for me. It warmed my heart, really. “Did you pass?” She asked as I got on the motorcycle. “Yeah” I replied.

I let the breeze fly through my face as the motorcycle zoomed back home. Hopefully, my life was going to be better; free of troubles.

Nalia’s POV

I was so glad that she got the job. I was honestly surprised when she told me that she got the job because truthfully, I didn’t think that she was cut out for anything related to work, no offense. I don’t even know how I agreed to let her get a job, but at least she’s off my hands now.

I just hoped that she wouldn’t make my work any harder and I also hoped that she had a good time. I mean, It’s not her fault that her life’s completely messed up; she deserves to have fun, to have a better life.

Not a fucked up life like mine.

Stephanie’s POV

Thankfully, Nalia got me all I needed to start with the job, like suitable work clothes, accessories and even a brand new laptop, like, how cool is that?

To say I was grateful was an understatement. I don’t even know why she’s helping me like this. Even if I do know why, I just want to stay in my delusions. The night before I was to resume work, she was in the balcony as usual so I went to sit with her.

“Thank you” I told her. “For what?” she looked at me. “For everything. I don’t even know why you’re helping me. I’ll make sure to repay you” I said to her. “You deserve it. I should be the one thanking you” she said and I looked at her with a questioning raised brow. “For what?” I asked.

“For listening to me that day. I really needed someone” she smiled up to the sky and I smiled too. “By the way, you should go to bed; you have a big day ahead you tomorrow” she said as she ushered me inside. I waved her goodnight as I went upstairs to my room. I smiled to myself as I crept under the covers.

I prayed that tomorrow would be a good day.

                   *****************

I guess that I was so excited that I woke up before the alarm went off. I did the needful and within five minutes I was decked up and ready to go. I decided to go for a natural look since I wasn’t really a makeup person.

Wait, let me rephrase that, I didn’t know how to apply makeup; and I wasn’t ready to waste time on that. I only put on lip gloss, just for starters.

I wore a purple long sleeved silk button-up top and a pencil skirt with my hair pulled up in a tight bun, leaving a few tendrils down. Looking at myself in the mirror, I looked amazing. By the time I went downstairs, Nalia was already there, eating breakfast.

Guess I can never wake up before her.

“You look good” she said and I muttered a quick thanks as I gulped down my breakfast. “Let’s go” she said as soon as I was done eating breakfast. I took my items as I hurried to the motorcycle. “Thanks again” I muttered as we whizzed through the forest.

“Whatever. You forced me into this right, so there is no need to thank me” She said as we got to the building that I don’t even remember the name. “I’ll come pick you up later, call me up when you’re done” she said as she zoomed off.
