I didn't really know what hospital she would be delivering in or what day she would go into labor, so all I had was a month. It was October, and Amber was in her seventh month, I had started painting the porch to keep my mind occupied while waiting on time to pass me by. I had lost some weight, and I knew it had to be due to my eating habits. My clothes hung on me. mom had said something about getting me some that fit, but I refused to go anywhere. She bought me some built so I could at least keep my jeans up, she says, telling me I look like some poor child. I didn't really care how I looked.

This October day, I stood out on my porch painting the reils a gray color. I had already gotten paint on the red shirt I wore and jeans. A blue car comes flying up our drive, I hadn't seen this car before. It stops as it gets right in front of the porch.

A girl with long blonde hair gets out. She is tall and skinny, more than likely one of the dancers. She wears a pantsuit and glasses that she pushes on top of her head. "Jasper De'lone," she says

"Yes," I say

"Amber sent me," she says as soon as she says Amber she had my attention.

"Is she alright?" I asked, cleaning my hands on an old rag.

"She's in labor, and she asks for you," she tells me

I nod, stepping down off the porch. I don't ask anything else.. mom comes out the door as I open the passenger door to the girls car.

"Where you going?" she asked

"Amber's in labor," I tell her, getting into the car

"I'm Casey, by the way, Amber's friend," the girl tells me as she speeds out the driveway.

"Nice to meet you. Are you in dace with her?"

"I am." She told me about you and her, " she says

I nod. "Women are not very good at keeping their mouth shut,"

I hear her laugh. "We're best friends, I wouldn't tell a soul. Besides I done my shear of reckless things before"

"How long has she been in labor?" I ask, not wanting to talk about her

"The contractions started this morning. She's been asking for you all day,"

We pull up to the emergency room, and I get out before she does. As I walked in, I asked the front desk where the labor and delivery floor were. The lady behind it tells me on the third floor. So I take the elevator to the third floor. When I get there, another desk is there, and I start to ask, but I hear Amber scream out, and I skip the desk, taking off down the hall towards Amber.

"Amber," I say as I come into the room she smiles up at me, her legs spread, and sweat beads around her forehead. She's beautiful and I go to step into the room but am stoped.

"Who are you?" A guy in blue asks. I am guessing he's security

"I'm the father," I tell him he steps away, letting me pass. I go to Amber, and I lean over. The first thing I do is kiss her sweet lips.

"Hey," she says against them

"Hey, how are you?"

"A lot of pain," she says

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine now you're here,"

I smile. "I've missed you,"

"I've missed you," she says, her eyes swelling up

"No, don't cry, we're fixing to have a baby," I tell her

"Yes," she says, then she screams. I step back a little

"You alright?" I ask

She smiles. "Yes,"
