In the grand chamber of the White Tower, all eyes were fixed on young Elara as she stood before the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan Sanche. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the child prepared to explain her unique gift of Dreamwalking.
With a deep breath, Elara began to speak, her voice clear and unwavering, "I can enter the World of Dreams, Amyrlin Seat. I have seen your dreams, and I have walked within them." Her small frame seemed to grow taller as she continued, "I can weave the One Power to show you what I see, to prove my abilities."
Moiraine watched her daughter closely, pride and concern warring in her eyes. She knew that revealing too much could be dangerous, especially in the politically treacherous environment of the White Tower. She discreetly signaled to Elara, a subtle gesture that only they understood, urging caution.
Elara nodded imperceptibly and began to weave saidar, the female half of the One Power. She merged it seamlessly with her Dreamwalking abilities, creating a vivid display of swirling colors and ethereal visions that filled the room. The assembled Aes Sedai gasped in awe as they witnessed the power of the young girl.
Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin Seat, maintained her stoic demeanor, her eyes fixed on the display. She couldn't help but feel a surge of pride in her child, though she concealed it well. She knew the importance of maintaining a facade of impartiality in front of the other Aes Sedai.
"That is enough for now, Elara," Siuan finally said, her voice measured. "You possess a rare and valuable gift." Siuan leaned back in her throne, her eyes locked on Moiraine. "We will discuss further in time. Depart now in the Light."
As the crowd dispersed, Moiraine and Elara made their way to their assigned chambers within the White Tower. Behind closed doors, they finally had the freedom to speak openly.
"Elara," Moiraine began, "I signaled for you to be cautious because the White Tower is a place of intrigue and secrets. We must be careful about what we reveal."
Elara nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I felt it too, Mother. There's something you're not telling me, isn't there?"
Moiraine hesitated, her gaze searching Elara's eyes for a moment before she spoke. "Yes, my dear. There are things I must keep hidden, even from you, to protect you. Trust me, it is for your safety."
Elara sensed the weight of her mother's words, and though curiosity burned within her, she nodded in acceptance. She knew that her mother always had her best interests at heart.
As they settled into their room for the night, Elara lay in her bed, her thoughts drifting to the mysteries that surrounded her family. She knew that Moiraine was keeping secrets, just as Siuan Sanche had her own secrets to protect. Elara also couldn't help but wonder why the people she trusts the most held such secrets from her.
Unbeknownst to her, as she drifted off to sleep, her mother, Moiraine, maintained a silent vigil, shielding her dreams and keeping the deepest truths hidden, all while al'Lan Mandragoran stood guard, ever watchful and ready to protect the child he had grown to love as his own. The White Tower, with its labyrinthine corridors of politics and power, held secrets within secrets, and Elara would have to navigate them all to uncover her own destiny.
