I said "Why are you smiling at this? Who gave you this Saad? Do you have a girlfriend?"
He was completely bewildered, eyebrows reaching his hairline, eyes popping out of socket. It was being very difficult for me to control my laughter.
"No!!I don't have any girlfriend. I don't even talk to any girl but you. Believe me, Maha." His tone was grim but blown, beads of sweat shining on his forehead. I didn't want to take it further, but something prickled me.
"Then why are you smiling at this? Tell me the truth Saad." My tone enraged.
"I was smiling thinking about you. You gave me this. How can you forget? Trust me, I don't even talk to any other girl." He replied in an anxious tone.
I couldn't hold any longer, I burst out laughing.
"Okay, I trust you my dear husband. You're always teasing me, that's why I decided to do it this time." I said and patted his cheeks.
"Maha!! Are you for real? My heart is beating so fast that I feel like it will come out anytime." His tone reflecting seriousness.
"I was joking Saad. I'm sorry. I didn't realize you will get so tensed. In fact, I thought you would catch me." I replied sensing him getting irate.
"How can you joke about this? I can't take anything related to our relationship lightly." He said and left in a temper without hearing me.
I stood there dumbstruck as I didn't know what to do. I went behind him after regaining my composure and saw him going out. I should have stopped when I saw him getting serious.
Author's POVMaha had decided to give Saad some time to cool down before talking again. So she didn't call him or check on him when he was out.
Maha made a nice cup of tea for Saad when he returned and went to him fidgety. She found him engrossed in his phone while he was sitting on the couch in his room.
She held the cup before him while, he took the cup from her but didn't move his gaze from his phone.
"I'm sorry Saad." Maha said leaning on the dressing table beside him.
"It's okay." he said letting out a sigh, looking at her. He patted on the couch signalling her to sit beside him.
She sat beside him and put her head on his shoulder, wrapping a hand around his arm.
"Are you still angry with me?" Regret reflecting her tone.
"Shouldn't I be?" he replied honestly instead of lying.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realize it would get so serious. Now forgive me please." She said tightening her hold.
He turned his head towards her. "It's alright. But please never repeat it." He said softly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear with his other hand.
"I won't." she said snuggling closer.
After sometime, Saad and Maha left for her home. She had insisted that she could go by herself as Saad had not recovered fully. But Saad was unbending.

Reaching Maha's home~
"Call me once you reach. Drive carefully." Maha said getting off the car.
"Okay." Saad replied.
"Umm..Maha listen." he added hesitantly getting off from the car.
"Yes." She said turning to face him.
"I'm sorry, love. I shouldn't have talked to you like that." His face evincing regret.
"It's okay. I shouldn't have done that either. I promise I'll never do it again." She said and pressed her lips.
"And I promise I'll never break your trust." he said cupping her face with a hand, looking into her eyes.
°°°°°Maha's POV
I sat on the swing in my balcony catching the rays of the sun. Just then, I glanced at my phone as it was buzzing and found Farin calling me. I picked the call and greeted her cheerfully, but what she said the next moment took all my high spirits away, giving me agitation.
The results were out!! My university admission test result was out!!
I rushed to my room and opened my laptop to check the result without wasting another moment, hanging up the call.
"What happened Maha? Why are you in so much hurry?" Mom asked as she caught the sight of me running.
"Mom, Farin told me the results are out. I'm checking that." I replied and saw her approaching me. She held my hand tightly, aware of how anxious I am and started caressing it with her thumb, while I was waiting for the result to show up on the screen.
"Whatever it will be, it'll be what Allah has written in your destiny. And that is surely the best for you. Don't be overwhelmed whether you get selected or not." She spoke calmly.
I forced a smile and nodded looking at her. I totally believe in what she said, but still I can't overcome the fear building up in my heart.
Finally, the result showed up. Alhamdulillah! I was selected. I hugged my mom who shed a few happy tears hugging me back.
Mom left to inform my dad about it and I grabbed my phone, as I saw Saad's call. I picked it and he spoke, "Hello Maha, did you check your result? I just got to know it is published."
"Yes Saad. I checked it. I am selected alhamdulillah. I was just about to call you." I answered cheerfully.
"Alhamdulillah. That is great. I'll come to see you in the evening after office." He replied matching my verve.
"Okay." I chirped.
°°°°°It was already evening. I was waiting eagerly for Saad because only he can understand exactly how ecstatic I am feeling right now. I heard the doorbell ringing and Adam opened the door before I reached there.
Saad reached out to give me a bear-hug as soon as I came into his sight.
"I'm so happy for you Maha." He spoke, his uplifted posture expressing his happiness.
"I can't explain how happy and excited I am to get admitted in this university. This has been my dream place ever since I have known about it." I replied clinging to him.
"When are you going for admission?" He asked after pulling back.
"Within a couple of days." I answered.
He hummeed and said "Okay, then hand me the documents you will need to get printed or photocopied before that."
I nodded. My parents came in just then and Saad greeted them. I made my way to the kitchen along with mom as Saad and my dad settled on the sofa.
We came back with some delicacies for everyone and I served them. My parents departed to their room and we came in my room after the light meal. Adam had already gone out after welcoming Saad.
"Will you be able to take a day off? Because I might need someone to accompain me the day of my admission. I would have asked mom but her health is not really well these days." I asked Saad unsure about his response.
