Saad nodded and Maha made her way towards Saima.
Saad came and settled on a chair in the dining area after freshening up while Saima and Maha were preparing a luscious breakfast.
They came with the dishes on their hands and joined him on the table. They shared lots of gossips and giggles while digging in the delicacies.
Then Saima headed towards her room as Maha forced her that she'll prepare the lunch all by herself. Saad received a call, which he was attending while sitting on the couch in the living room.
Maha came out from the kitchen and noticed him. She decided to call and inform her parents about Saad before she gets busy in cooking, as she was still unaware that they knew it. She was walking towards her room to grab her phone mindlessly, her steps slightly bouncy, her thoughts occupied by Saad's surprise appearance.
But, on spur of the moment, she stumbled on her steps and landed on the floor with a thud. She grunted clasping her left foot as she felt a surge of pain shooting on her ankle.
Saad came running as he saw her and immediately fetched her up in his arms. She gasped due to his sudden action and held his shoulders promptly before he made her sit on the bed and sat in front of her on the bed. He took her feet on his lap and she held his arm blenching as a reflex due to the biting ache.
He casted a pained glance at her face and examined her feet in a keen yet delicate manner, "Seems like it got twisted. Let's go to the hospital." Saima entered the room on the instant and blurted out "What was that sound?"
She looked at Saad expecting an answer and she understood the situation as she glanced at Maha's side the very next moment.
"Why are you sitting Saad? Go get the keys. Take her to the hospital." She walked towards Maha and helped her with her hijab as Saad got up.
Then Saad came near her and held her hands "Try to stand up holding me." He winced as he earned a sharp smack from Saima on his arm and turned to face her. His eyes bulged as he rubbed his palm on the spot with jaw hung open.
"Are you crazy? How is she going to stand up in that condition? Pick her up." she spoke with a piercing gaze and nudged his biceps "What have you built these for, huh?"
Maha was in pain but she couldn't help finding it humorous. She suppressed her laugh pressing her lips as she got a glimpse of Saad's face.
"Okay Ma." he dipped his head slightly. He looked at Maha and raised his brows asking if she was comfortable. She nodded and he scooped her up carefully. Saima opened the door for them and assisted Saad till the car before he settled her down on the car seat.
Then he drove her to the hospital while Saima headed back home.
During the time the doctor was treating her, she kept clutching his hand tightly while resting her forehead on his belly as he was standing next to her. He kept caressing the back of her head throughout while his own hold was tight on her hand.
Maha's POV
We went back home and Saad helped me to sit on the bed, arranging pillows behind my back and under my injured leg. He made sure I was comfortable before he left the room.
I was supposed to spend some quality time with him and he was supposed to take rest instead of me after the long flight. But me being ecstatic called for the misery.
Although alhamdulillah, the sprain is not much severe. Still, I won't be able to move from my bed for a week. And it hurts so much for real..
I saw him coming back with an icepack and a glass of water. He sat beside me and gave me my medicine and the water.
I saw him getting up and sitting on the edge of the bed near my feet with the icepack in his hand. He had wrapped my foot with a polythene beforehand. I winced as I tried to move my foot abruptly due to the contact of cold pack on my bandaged foot. But I soon relaxed as he kept applying it gently.
Ma came in the room with our lunch and asked me how I was doing. I assured her I was fine. I noticed she had brought only one plate and was taking out food in it.
Then she settled beside me and Saad returned in the room after leaving the icepack. She signaled him to sit beside her and he obeyed her.
She forwarded a morsel of rice and chicken towards me and I opened my mouth to savor it. Then she forwarded the next morsel towards Saad and he gladly gobbled up. "Did you eat?" I asked swallowing just before she forwarded her hand with a new bite. She smiled, "How can I eat before my babies?" she faked an exasperated sigh, "Finish eating fast. I'm hungry." she urged as if we were little kids who just returned from school.
We chuckled as she continued feeding us both until our stomachs were about to burst.
°°°°°
I was reading a book while sitting on the swing in my balcony when I noticed a car stopping in front of my house.
Saad and Ma had arrived as planned, to discuss about our wedding preparations with my parents.
Yes, we are having our wedding celebrations soon. I'm so excited!!
I went inside my room and kept my book on the nightstand just before I heard the doorbell. I settled on my bed as I didn't want to get scolded for roaming around the house with my not-so-perfect foot.
I had returned that day when my parents went to meet Saad, though Ma had insisted I stay there until I get well. But my mother assured her that she will take good care of me and I came back.
Ma entered my room and took long strides to reach me before cupping my face to kiss my forehead and hugging me afterwards.
Saad was a couple steps behind her. He stood there admiring us with his ever charming smile.
