I smiled reading it and replied assuring her that I'll do it. Then I headed towards my hotel but not before taking my pill that I got reminded of by Maha.

After reaching my hotel, I took a shower. I laid down on my bed and grabbed my phone. Then I made a phone call to my mom to check on her.

After that I called Maha and chatted for a while with her too and got a nap afterwards.

Author's POV

Days were passing just normally for both Maha and Saad, minus seeing each other. They made sure to take out time for each other in spite of time difference, busy schedules and all.

But both missed spending time together in person so much. Time seemed to slow down for them as they reminisced about their gone by moments.

Saad always ignored the question somehow when Maha asked him about when he's going to return.

On the phone~

"Saad, when is your return flight scheduled for? You ignore me everytime I ask." A frown enveloped her face.

He tilted his head slightly and acted as if pondering over the question, "Soon in sha Allah."

"When approximately?" She raised her brows demanding a more specific answer.

He waved his hand and spoke, "We'll see. Don't worry. Did you visit mom today? Accha tell me what should I bring for you from here?"

Eventually he escaped her questioning again successfully by bombarding her with questions back.

And his flight was scheduled for that day itself. After hanging the call up, he checked out of the hotel and left for the airport to catch his flight. Nobody except Saima was aware of it. He told her to keep it a secret which she gladly did until he landed in Bangladesh.

Maha was in deep slumber when she suddenly woke up to the sound of her phone's ringtone. It was 8 in the morning of a weekend.

She grabbed her phone from the nightstand, sitting up on the bed with half-lidded eyes and picked the call up without checking who it is.

"Hello." she yawned and drawled.

"Assalamu alaikum, my love. How are you?" Saad spoke from the other end.

Maha glanced at the screen as her sluggishness alleviated and said "Wa alaikum assalam. I was not expecting your call at this hour. Are you leaving for some meeting?"

"No Maha. Actually I called you to ask if you could go and check on mom today. Some parcels will be delivered at home. Can you go and help her with them?" He asked in his usual calm and soft voice.

"Of course I can. I'll leave in some time." She stood up on her feet.

"Please go as early as you can. It's a bit urgent." He implied.

"Okay, love. I'll be there in an hour." She assured him and headed towards the washroom to freshen up.

Saad was now at the airport as his flight had just landed. He was so excited to see Maha that he ended up calling her even before getting off the plane. After nearly an hour, he headed towards his home finishing the due errands.

Saima called Rabia and informed her about Saad's arrival after Saad called her as he landed. Maha wasn't aware of it. So by then, it was a secret for Maha only.

Maha left for Saad's home after having her breakfast and reached there within 45 minutes.

Saima opened the door for her as she rang the bell reaching there. After greeting her, Saima said in an excited mien patting her cheeks, "I have a very special surprise for you. Go and take rest now, I'll join you shortly."

Maha made her way towards the balcony while she wondered what the surprise could be. Maybe Saima had bought something for her or she was cooking something special for her. Or maybe someone is coming to meet them?? She thought and shrugged.

She plopped on the chair placed in the balcony and got lost in the boundless world of her thoughts.

This place holds memories of them sitting together and pouring their hearts out nonchalantly. Giggling, teasing, scolding, stressing; this surrounding has witnessed it all. She licked her lips thinking and leaned back with the chair.

On the other hand, Saima went to call and check Saad's whereabouts. Saad clinched that he'll be reaching in no time. She was very eager and excited to see her dear son after months, which felt no less than ages.

Then she went to check Maha and found her sitting in the balcony chewing her lips with eyes fixed on the road.

No! No way she could let Saad's plan get destroyed in the last moment. She had to distract Maha somehow so that she couldn't see Saad immediately when he arrives.

Saima went near Maha and sat beside her on another chair, not before flashing an awkward grin at her. They started chatting casually, but Maha could sense the uneasiness in Saima's behaviour, her smoothening dress, scratching her eyebrows, peeking outside awkwardly after every few seconds.

She asked her in worry holding her hand, "Ma, are you alright? You seem a bit worried."

She shrugged laughing awkwardly "I'm absolutely fine, my dear. Umm.. actually I was craving your handmade coffee. Will you make me one?"

"Of course. You should have told me earlier. It would have been made by now.
I'm going to the kitchen." she stood up and caressed her shoulders.

With that, Maha walked to the kitchen flashing a smile at Saima.
