Saad was a couple steps behind her. He stood there admiring us with his ever charming smile.
We went out to the living room after trading casual greetings and everyone had their seats occupied.
The wedding date was fixed for a month later considering the necessary preparations and the reception would be held the very next day.
It would be a lie if I say I'm not nervous at all though I'm much excited.
We had our lunch and following that Saad and I decided to go round the park nearby as I was extremely fatigued of seeing only the walls of my house for the past 5 days.
Author's POV
Maha and Saad were sitting on a bench in the park, being enamored by some ankle-biters who were busy in amusing themselves and giggling at their activities occasionally.
This was the park where they had come for their first ever date, a study date to be precise, as Maha's admission test was around the corner and she had been anxious regarding her studies. They both shared the time while indulging in own studies and helping their partner occasionally whenever felt convenient as both had their own expertise.
They visited this place numerous times after that too, sometimes to just stroll around or sometimes on said kind of dates.
Maha turned her head to glance at the ice-cream vendor hearing the familiar bell. Then she snapped to cast an innocent look at Saad's side tilting her head. He chuckled, amused by her antics, which were not seen quite often. He reached the stall to get their ice-creams while Maha waited sitting on the bench with a bright look gracing her features.
He came back and handed Maha her favorite chocolate flavor and savored his butterscotch ice-cream. She mouthed a thank you flashing an excited grin as he settled beside her saying "Anything for my lady." and dipped his head. She chuckled at his dramatic gesture and started watching the kids close by again while he admired her with a lingering smile on his lips.
Maha's POV
After spending a not-so-tiring month in preparing for the wedding, it was only 1 day away now. Not very tiring because, we are avoiding any extravagant functions as my parents and Ma promised us, when we insisted on keeping it simple.
Today, was a day dedicated to my girls. First we are going to have spa, facial and all kinds of self-care services, and then at night we are going to have a girls' night. I did not want any grand haldi or mehendi ceremony and go in front of non-mahrams with makeup. But also I didn't wanna miss the fun.
I wanted to break the chain of stereotypical programes and find something new. And here I am, out with a way.
Me, ma and my mom got our services done before Farin and Falak arrived. Falak is Farin's sister, more like my little sister.
I went to get ready quickly after greeting them as my cousins and other friends had started arriving too.
I got dressed in a pale yellow georgette sharara, which was embellished with white pearls on the edges. Then I started doing my makeup.
I was halfway done when a knock on my door caught my attention. It is Adam for sure. I can never be mistaken about my brother's pattern of knocking the door.
I opened the door and he passed me a bag as I casted a peer at it. I opened it and saw flower jewellery in it. I smiled as I realized he remembered picking them up for me as I asked him to, besides hundreds of other things.
But my smile dropped when he shook my shoulders without any warning the very next moment before whisper shouting with a dramatic shocked face, "Who are you pretty girl? What are you doing in my sister's room? Tell me what have you done to her?"
I smacked his arm giggling after swatting them away. "I know my sister is annoying but that doesn't mean you will replace her on the day before her wedding." he heaved a sigh and shook his head.
I chuckled one last time before he pulled me in his embrace and I hugged him back. "Who is going to irritate me like this from tomorrow, huh?" I felt tears in my eyes as I spoke.
It was his turn to cackle, "Entertain you, you mean." he corrected me "don't worry. I have trained Saad bhai. And if he is not capable enough then I'll be there." A chortle rose from my throat and he caressed my head as we pulled away.
He behaves as if he's my older brother sometimes and I love it. I never admitted though.
"Go, get ready. I'm heading to my friend's place. Enjoy your girls' night." He spoke and I patted his cheeks and he left offering me an affectionate smile.
I put together the leftover task and checked my sleek self in the mirror before wearing my juttis.

Falak came running as soon as I set my foot in the living room and swirled me along with her holding my arms with a squeal.
I gasped as I was totally unprepared and smacked her arm lightly as she stopped. She giggled rubbing her arm while Farin came and stood beside me.
She was, in fact both were adorned in beautiful sarees and exquisite makeup. I flashed an impressed look at both of them while sinking down on the couch with them on the either side of me.
I engulfed Falak in a tight hug while Farin stood up again to secure the chiffon dupatta over my head with pins.
"I missed you." I said to her as she smiled. "I missed you too darling." Our joined bodies shook with laughter.
She has been living at her aunt's house, who happens to be a doctor, for almost an year now as she was preparing for the medical college admission test alongside regular studies.
With all the naughtiness she has running in her veins, she wouldn't be able focus on studies if she was at home. But now as I insisted, she came back just yesterday to attend my wedding.
We were cut off from our chatters by Ma's voice. "Maha, Saad has been blasting the horns of his car for the last 10 minutes. Can you please go and tell that impatient guy to stop? I can't find my phone."
I chuckled and nodded, "I'll go." I had been searching for a chance to meet him though.
As I reached, I called him to come inside. I waited for him at a silent corner and turned when I heard the familiar footsteps. I smiled, so did he.
"You look beautiful." He breathed after scanning me for a few seconds.
"Thank you." My cheeks burned. "Ma can't find her phone. She told you to wait."
"Better she doesn't find her phone so I can stand here and stare at you all night." Mischief gleaming his eyes.
I laughed throwing my head back, "That's so cheesy Saad."
"Anything for my lady." He spoke animatedly while I cackled nonstop.
