Korra stares off into the waters as she has heard his reply. He didn't want to be with her. And there was thinking she could have a shot with him, that maybe, just maybe a guy like him could like a girl like her. But she had gotten her hopes too high in a possible relationship.
"Korra?" Mako said trying to get her attention. She turned and raised an eyebrow. What did he want? He already broke her heart. "Um, you said you wanted to talk to me about something?"
She stares at him incredibly. She had daydreamed the whole thing. She opens her mouth to speak but instead he does.
"I'm sorry to cut you off, but can I say something really quick?" He asks.
She shuts her mouth, knowing she's too nervous to speak and nods.
He ruins his hair by running his hand through it. "Alright, what I've wanted to say was, remember when we kissed?" He paused and she smiles, nodding. "Well um, Asami had said afterwards for me to choose you or her."
She sucked her breath in, as if in a way it would help the situation.
"I have known something for quite awhile, since your accident. When you were in the coma, it was killing me not knowing if you would live. And so what I'm trying to say is I choose you, Korra." He said smiling at her.
She couldn't help the butterflies that erupted in her stomach. He wanted to be with her. A smile etched itself on her face and she couldn't hold it back. "You don't know how long I've been wanting you to say that."
His eyes widened at her words. "Really? You have?" She nods. Mako doesn't wait any longer to do something they've done once before. They kissed. He had his hand on her cheeks pulling her as close as humanly possible, while her arms fit nicely around his neck.
This kiss was different then the first. The first they weren't sure of the others feelings and did what they thought was right. But this time, they both know they have feelings toward each other and that was enough for them. The kiss was full of love, and caused Korra to feel butterflies again. They pulled away from the kiss just to gaze into each others eyes, as they took in their surroundings. The birds were chirping and the waves crashes to the shore a few meters away. The sun shined bright as there was various clouds that filled the blue sky.
"Can I ask you something?" He says staring into his eyes.
"Sure." She says smiling.
"Will you, Korra, be my girlfriend?"
She smiles widely. "I don't know, I might have to think about that."
"I think I can convince you." He presses his lips to her softly, then pulls away.
"Of course I would love to Mako." She puts her hand on the back of his head and pull him to her again, liking the way his lips felt against hers. She tilted her head to deepen the kiss before releasing.
"C'mon, I want to take you somewhere." He held out his hand for her to grab. "Now, close your eyes."
She did as she was told as he lead her someplace. Beneath her feet the floor felt soft, like grass, she could feel the wind against her face, meaning they were still outside. "Alright open."
She opened her eyes to a spot that was significant to the both of them. The place was along the cliffside but far enough to be at a safe distance. There sat a pool of water, just waist deep, but clear as can be. A tree nestled close by to give the perfect amount of shade, a rock close to the water and was big enough to provide as something to lean on. It was simply serene. Korra had fell in love with the place since she first laid eyes on it. It was the place she always found herself wandering to. It was the perfect place to meditate or just think.
"I wanted to bring you here to do this again." Mako had said. Korra turned her head to face him just as his lips met hers, for the fourth time that day.
She, of course, kisssed back but eventually had to pull away. "You're never going to get tired of doing that will you?" She said smiling.
"Never ever." He smirked as he kissed the tip of her nose.

It had been only a day, but it felt magical to Korra at the least since they have been together. Nobody knew but them. They tried to get away from everyone else so they could be together again. Mako thought of a good time to tell everyone. "Why not us tell them tonight, at dinner?" He asked as they laid on the grass staring at the clouds."Hmm sounds good." She put her head on his shoulder.
"What do you think your parents will think? What if they don't want us together?" He said low enough for only her to hear.
She turned to look at him, worry was written all over him. "Mako, they like you, I know that. And as for them not wanting us together, well I don't really care, if they want me happy then they would let us be together. Now stop worrying please." Korra said.
He smiles. "Thanks." He wraps his arms around her waist and kissed her cheek. Korras cheeks flushed red. She still felt butterflies everytime their skin came in contact, she couldn't deny it.
--It was time for Korra and Mako to tell everyone, and he was really nervous. "What if they don't approve of us?" Mako said worryingly.
"Hey, this was your idea." She said smiling.
He looked up at her. "Not helping."
"Oh c'mon Mako, they'll love you. They loved you before and this won't change anything I promise." She kissed him and he instantly soothed down.
The doors flying open caused them to stop and break apart. "Dinners ready." Pema said. She eyes the both of them, both of their cheeks were a rosy pink color. She walked away smiling.
"That was close." Mako said. "I can't wait to tell them and get this over with." He ruffled his hair, then realized he messed it up and immediately fixed it.
She laughed at his antics. "You know you're cute when you're nervous." She said crossing her arms.
He looked at her and smiled. "You're cute all the time." They both walked to the table and sat beside each other. Everyone was there, Korras parents, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin, Pema and the four kids.
Five minutes into dinner, they made their announcement. "So, um Korra and I have something to tell you all." He said. He looked at her and she noded, telling him to go on. Mako glanced at the table to collect his confidence. His eyes wandered from each person until he said it. "Well Korra and I, are um dating."
It was silent until there was a round of cheers. "We kinda knew." Tenzin said.
"How?" Korra spoke rather confusedly.
"Well, you haven't exactly tried to hide it." Korra was still confused as was Mako.
"We caught you kissing." Pema said for her husband. Instantly the couple blushed. "It's ok, we're just glad you decided to tell us now."
"How long have you been going out for?" Korras dad asked sternly.
Mako stiffened up. "Um one day sir."
He chuckled. "It's alright I'm just messing with you, and please don't call me sir, it sounds so old."
Mako relaxed a little and noded. The rest of the dinner went smoothly, Mako and Korra held hands. They were glad that everyone knew and they wouldn't have to hide it anymore.
He was laughing at some joke Bolin said but absent-mindedly put his hand on her thigh, while his thumb rubbed her skin. And just the very spot he touched, Korra felt electricity go through her. It amazed her how she was affected by one touch. And she was now sure that she loved him, but she was worried on how to tell him.
What if it scared him? What if he didn't feel the same way just yet. Although she had many questions running through her head, she was glad of one thing. That Mako was hers and nobody elses.
