Chapter 3

Simon pov

"Imprinting?" I asked, curiosity was heavily laced in that one word. Jacob nodded before letting out a sharp short sigh before explaining, he adjusted his feet nervously.

"Imprinting is a big thing for our packs, at the beginning it was believed to be for reproducing purposes but obviously," Jacob started, shooting a knowing look to me before continuing. "It's not in this case or in other prior cases such as me and Nessie."

I was taken back at the end of his sentence, my eyebrows scrunched together in confusion as I began to connect the dots. That's why she picked wolf, that's why her favorite animal was a wolf...it all came together and as I think of it...she's just a child.

"What the bloody hell?!" I exclaimed in a low growl, my eyes narrowed at the man before me. "She is just a child! She doesn't know what anything means! How can Edward let you be even near her?!"

"It's not like that." Jacob growled back in a reply, his brown beady eyes narrowed at me in return "if you let me finish explaining, you would at least understand."

"Then tell me, what is so attractive about a kid?" I snapped, crossing my arms over my chest. Jacob let short growl after that question, he began to finish explaining while his whole body seemed to be quaking.

"It's not like that at all. It's nothing that I can or Leah can control." Jacob began "I could be anything she wants me to be. A brother, a guardian, anything."

"At this time. What will happen down the road? Just wait till she's an adult? Then get together?" I asked, disgust layered my tone. "You'll be waiting a while."

Jacob's eyes flickered away quickly, he looked ashamed in a way? Until I realized, 'Nessie'doesn't grow like a regular child. My eyes shot straight to him fiercely as I clenched my fist on each side of my body, I let out a quick snarl.

"What age does she stop growing, Jacob?" I asked, lowly in a quite gruffly tone. He looked at me, he was definitely hesitating.

"You are Leah's imprint..." Jacob blurted out, trying to change the subject. I was took back but quickly shook it off, I asked the question again loudly.

"When does she stop growing? Is she immortal?!" I asked, he let out a short growl before answering.

"She will be mature at the age of seven, human years." Jacob stated before adding on "yes, she is immortal"

That was the straw that broke the camel's back, I quickly tackled Jacob to the ground. He landed on his back with a loud thud, I managed to stay on top of his shaking body. I grasped his shoulders and let out a loud growl, my eyes narrowed as I began to repeatedly slam his shoulder and chest against the hard ground below him.

"She is just a child." I growled loudly, he was shaking so bad as of right now and in an instant all I saw was a blur of russet reddish brown fur and I was thrown back. He managed to claw my face when he shifted, I could feel my skin begin to quickly cover that breakage as I got onto my feet.

Jacob's wolf let out a ferocious roar that had the whole forest quaking and alive with noise, I darkly chuckled as I shifted into my form of a wolf. Jacob immediately lunged at me but I quickly dodged, he collided with a medium sized tree and sent splinters raining down as that poor tree collapsed over. He shook out his fur and growled loudly, it pissed him off more.

His fur stood up as he lowered his body in a crouch, I copied his same position and lunged before he could. We collided, our fangs snapping at each other, hungry for any type of part of each other we could get. I grasped my jaws around his throat, closing slowly before we were broken apart by that familiar wolf...Leah.

I got on all four of my paws as I looked over to the wolf that broken our fight, Jacob still laid down on the grass, out of breath I suppose.

That silver wolf jumped back into the cover of the forest, a minute later, approaching again but in her human form.

"What were you trying to do? Kill him?!" Leah shouted at me, her hands were shaking like how Jacob's was before he shifted. It didn't take a minute before she looking over to a out of breath Jacob, her eyes narrowed as she continued "this is why we don't trust leeches"

Jacob raised his head up to shoot a glare to Leah as I was taken back by her statement, it definitely left me dumbfounded.

"We aren't all monsters." I replied, Leah scoffed as she crossed her arms on her chest as she looked at me. It was hard to stay offended as I stared into her eyes, that pull was still there and she definitely was more pulled in. Leah shook her head vigorously before letting a growl out.

"I'm done here. I just - can't!" She exclaimed, running into the forest again. I watched her run before looking to Jacob, I felt my anger spiked again as the previous conflict came to mind again.

Jacob instantly shifted in his spot, my eyes quickly looked away.

"Why should I let you live?" I growled, looking at anything that isn't a naked man.

"Because you should be chasing after her!" Jacob snarled out, he was shuffling around, perhaps trying to cover himself decently. "I know you probably haven't experienced a girlfriend before but you vamps love chasing so go get her!"

I let out a exasperated growl towards him before I quickly sprint the way Leah left, avoiding seeing Jacob or dealing with his insufferable self. I tried to follow her scent, her scent wasn't as bad as Jacob's was nor Seth's so that was probably with the help of imprinting. She smelled comforting, not a distinct scent but not awful.

I quickly came to a stop as I saw her sitting on a log that had fallen over, she seemed deep in thought before I stepped on a twig. That definitely helped her snap back into the present, she swiftly turned to me, her brown eyes was liquified and tears was streaming slowly down her cheek.

As soon as she noticed it was me, she wiped away any tears in a furious manner before leaping up from the log.

"What do you want? To torture other wolves too?" She growled out, "you vampires think you're just so superior but guess what! You're not! Now leave."

My heart stung in a slight manner, it was different.

"I'm here to check up on you...Jacob told me about imprinting." I spoke softly, my eyes burning into her fierce eyes. "And how that happened between us..."
