Reina had just tied her shoes as Ashtray walked down the stairs with his bag in hand.

"Ready?" asked Rena, Ashtray nodding.

"Thank you for letting us stay." said Reina, hugging Luisa.
"Of course, oh and here are the keys to the truck." she said, handing them to Reina.

Reina once again thanked her before they left.

Reina looked in the rearview mirror to see Ashtray laying across the backseat. She quickly reached back and fixed the falling blanket.

It had been about ten hours of them on the road, the sun had already gone down with an hour of driving left. It would be around 7 or 8 pm by the time they got there.

Reina had noticed a pretty empty gas station, she sighed, feeling as if she was about to pee her pants.

She quickly pulled over, and gently shook Ashtray awake.
"Ash, I'm gonna go to the bathroom okay? I'm gonna take the keys and lock the door, you want anything from inside?" said Reina.

"Some chips and a Gatorade please." He said, still half asleep. She laughed and nodded as she jumped from the truck to the floor.

Reina walked inside and grabbed the items.
"Just this, oh and the password to the bathroom." She asked, the clerk nodded as she paid.

He handed her her bag before speaking.
"1420." He said.

"Thank you." She said, quickly walking out and going to the bathroom.

She hurriedly locked the door and unbuttoned her pants as she hovered over the toilet.

Sighing as she finished.

She pulled her pants up and buttoned them before going to wash her hands. As she was rinsing them, she looked up when she heard honking coming from outside.

Reina turned the tap off and ran to the bathroom door, hurriedly unlocking it and pushing it open.

"Rey!" Ashtray yelled, her heart began thumping when she saw a man trying to pull Ashtray out of the truck.

Reina began sprinting towards them as Ashtray thrashed and yelled out for her.

"Reina!" He yelled, fear evident in his eyes.

As Reina got closer, she realized he had been holding a knife to his throat.
"If you want your boy to live, you're gonna listen, and listen close." he said, his country accent heavy.

Reina nodded, not wanting to upset him any further.
"You're gonna gimme the keys, any cash, and valuables you have, and then I'll be on my merry way. Got it?" He asked, pushing the knife deeper into his throat as a smirk grew on his face.

She took a shaky breath in as she watched Ashtray close his eyes, tears brimming in them

"Okay, but let him go first." said Reina, "We'll give you whatever you want, just let me have him first."

The man laughed, his eyes closing as his head was thrown back. She charged towards him, knocking Ashtray from his arms, causing him to fall to the floor as the man stumbled backwards.

Reina looked over Ashtray, picking him off the floor.
"Run inside, call the police!" she yelled, pushing him towards the building.

She watched as he ran inside and closed the door behind him, but she noticed his eyes grew wide as he pointed behind her through the glass.

She turned and felt a blow to her head, causing her to fall to the floor. Her vision began to blur and slowly began getting darker as she looked around. A warm sensation at the back of her head.

"Should've never tried anything, bitch." yelled the man, throwing a large rusted, metal pipe next to Reina.

She felt a warm liquid drip down her face, she moved her hand to touch it, the familiar red liquid dripping off of her fingers.

Reina slowly reached into her pocket, pulling a set of keys out. Tossing them a few feet away from her, hitting the man's filthy boots.

"There, now leave." She said, her vision going dark.

She heard loud but small footsteps quickly coming towards her, then a pair of small hands touch her face.

"Reina, please, don't leave me." whispered Ashtray, kneeling next to her and brushing the hair from her face.

She could barely make out his face when she heard the sirens in the distance.

Reina raised her hand, grabbing Ashtray's cheek.
"Everything's gonna be okay, got it?" said Reina, using her thumb to clean the fallen tears.
"No, don't say that!" said Ashtray, "Don't leave me!"

"What did you do!" yelled Ashtray, trying to compose himself. Ashtray grabbed Reina and held her in his arms.

The man only laughed, grabbing the keys from the floor.
"Thanks for the fun, kid." He said, walking to the truck.

Ashtray quickly took his sweater off and placed Reina's head on it before getting up.

He grabbed the metal pipe from next to her, walking behind the man.

"Fun?" He asked, lemme show you real fun." He said, taking a swing, a hard blow to his knee.

The man screamed as he fell to the floor, giving Ashtray the perfect angle to swing at his face.

Another scream spilling from his mouth as Ashtray continued to take each and every opening to swing.

"Come on, kid. You don't have to keeping doing this!" Yelled the man, blood dripping from both corners of his mouth as he lay on his side, clutching his ribs in pain.

Ashtray laughed menacingly, only to continue his swinging.

When the man's screaming turned to small whimpers of pain, he took a few steps back. Dropping the tube, making a clanking sound as it hit the ground.

He panted as he felt sweat dripping down his exposed arms, soaking his white tank top.

He dusted off his hand on his sweatpants before walking over to Reina, kneeling down next to her head. He slowly dragged his finger across her face, removing the stray hairs.

He quietly sat down as the sirens got closer,  knowing he'd most likely not see Reina after the cops saw what he did.

He gently lifted her head and held it in his lap, a hand lightly drawing shapes on her cheek while the other stayed firm on her chest, making sure she was still breathing.

I need to stop lagging yall, I'm so sorry. But here's a little update on our "happy" little family🙃
