▪︎little luz and little amity, no caregiver
--"Wonder if anyone 's home," Amity thought out loud, entering the owl house. Once in she didn't see any visible presence but opted to travel further into the house.
Due to a circumstance pertaining to her grade, she couldn't go home. Not right now, not with Odalia present. So her best option was to go where she knew Odalia wouldn't be. That of course was with Luz and her family.
Amity had found her way to Luz's room. As she inched closer there were signs that somebody was there, presumably Luz.
Once again without thought, she opened the door in front of her. Upon opening the door she saw Luz sprawled out on the floor, drawing. Sat close by was an otter stuffie.
"Batata, what're you doin?" Amity asked. Luz froze in place, as an item fell to the floor. Amity's eyes followed the noise, and a pacifier was in sight. Hm?
While she had questions she also was intrigued. At long last Luz broke her silence. Her voice wasn't as chipper and put together as usual, Amity related actually. Her voice came out squeakier and high-pitched. The words weren't properly said either. Amity noted that her voice was also quaint like there was slight fear.
"Hi Ams, um, I can 'xplain!" she spoke, meekly.
"It's okay! Explain later, may I join?" Amity asked, earning a surprised look from the other. But as the shock wore off, her expression was now that of a smile.
"Course you can! Don' have any other gear but I do has paper. Dat okay?" Luz asked, receiving an affirmative nod.
With that, Amity sat beside Luz and joined her in her drawing escapade. At first, she couldn't think of anything, but after a while, she got some artistic spark. Said spark was Ghost, her cat. Sloppily she guided the pencil on the paper, and several doodles of Ghost came to be. They all were in different poses sporting a variety of expressions.
Occasionally she glanced at Luz's paper, and on it, she had drawn her friend group. On the left side of her drawing was Eda and King while on the right side there stood Amity, holding hands with Luz. Amity thought it was cute but made no comment, and instead just smiled. While drawing, she did stir up conversation. It was about their current state of being, which Amity described as "being tiny."
"So Luz why are you tiny?" she asked, in response, Luz's face crumpled in uncertainty. At first, she didn't know what was being asked. Once understood she felt like the response she was going to give would be doltish. She wanted to be deceptive but in the end, her good morals won.
"Today was loud. People were loud, items were loud, heck even silence 's loud! Not even silent more like static... with screechin' too!"
Amity had days like that so she looked at the other with an understanding expression. "I understand that, I sometimes have days like that! Thank you for telling me, but let's continue coloring"
And so the two continued to lay there coloring for quite a while. When the two grew tired of it, Luz spoke up. Her voice was still high-pitched and squeaky but the tone shifted to be more confident. Considering that Amity too was small meant that Luz didn't need to worry about judgement.
"Hey, how bout we go get a snack? 'Opefully Eda left good food n' not icky stuff" Luz commented, standing up and holding out her hand for Amity.
Amity took the other's hand and was then pulled off the floor. "Kay kay, let's get some food then!" she spoke, with as much of an authoritative voice as she could muster. She noticed that Luz seemed to be tinier than her, so taking the leadership role made sense.
The two progressed their way to the kitchen and stood beside the fridge. Amity opened it up and looked at Edalyn's various knickknacks and of course, Apple Blood. Luz grimaced at most of the options, intently looking in every crevasse for something appealing. Amity turned to look elsewhere in the kitchen and stumbled upon a box of cereal. She tapped Luz's shoulder and pointed it out. The other clapped excitedly, pulling Amity into a short-lived hug.
"Phew! Thought dat there was nuffin" she exclaimed, grabbing a bowl for the cereal. "Forgot to ask a lil bit ago but Ames but how come you're 'ere?"
The mentally older paused momentarily. She didn't want to get emotional, but she could feel tears poking the corner of her eye. Emotions were so varied in this state. She roughly wiped away the forming tears.
"Gotta bad grade and didn't want my mom to see... so I came here. Sorry for no warning, Luz" She frowned.
"S okay! I got chu, don't worry. I'll... I'll be your knight!" Luz spoke matter of factly.
"Thank you, I 'ppreciate it" Amity giggled, finally letting a tear slip down her face. This time Amity initiated a hug, which was also cut off shortly. They still had food to eat after all. Which was reiterated by Luz. "Still need ta eat, silly!" she said, booping Amity's nose.
"Mhm sure do, let's go n eat then. But... ya know how we are both small?"
"Yup!" Luz nodded, though her brow shifted her expression into confusion. "Why do ya ask?"
"Well, shouldn't we tell someone? Probably important to have a carer" Amity questioned.
"Right-o, but for now we care for each other! When we are both ready we tell others, otay?" Luz responded.
"Yeah okay, that can work for now. Been fun today" Amity smiled, going to take a seat at the table. Before the emotional spiel, she grabbed something from the fridge to eat. It was reminiscent of yogurt and granola but with a Boiling Isles twist.
"Uh-huh, lotsa fun! Do it again?" Luz asked a hopeful shimmer in her eye.
"Absolutely!" Amity grins, motioning for Luz to take the seat beside her.
