*LILLIAN'S POV*

I glance up at Bill who is grinning ecstatically as he watches his twin brother's car cross the finish line at the speed of light.

I can't deny how impressed I am by Tom's driving skills, or how amazing it would have been to experience it from the passenger's seat. A part of me almost gave in when he had asked me to come with him. But I also had no intention of being depicted as one of his millions of women who obey his every whim.

God only knows why he had asked me, seemingly convinced I would accept. no matter how thrilling it may have been, I simply couldn't bring myself to agree. Even if it meant that I had to stay with his gang of thugs throughout the race, who, contrary to their menacing reputation, were not that bad.

That being said, Georg and Gustav have tended to stick to themselves and those other girls, who still haven't so much as even looked in my direction. The duration of my time was spent with Bill, who's noticeably kinder and much more talkative in comparison to Tom.

I'm reluctant to admit that I'm slightly grateful for his presence due to the harsh stares I've been receiving from random men since the moment Tom left my side. It's left me feeling highly uneasy to say the least.

What freaks me out even more is that all these strange men seem to have one thing in common.

A tattoo.

Specifically a tattoo of a snake swirled onto the side of their necks.

I swallow and turn my attention back to the race that has now come to an end. I watch as Tom whirls his car around skilfully before pulling it to a halt, the other racers following close behind. A large spacious circle has been formed for the racer's cars to be situated. The crowd goes wild, waiting for the precise moment Tom emerges from his car, that beautifully smug grin etched onto his features.

However, it's not Tom that exits his car first, but one of his rival components. His face is hard and solemn like a statue as he scans the crowd slowly. I catch the menacing marking etched onto his neck. It's almost like some form of cult and I am growing increasingly skeptical over how this could concern my parents.

When his cold expression turns to lock with mine, I can't take it anymore. I aimlessly tap at Bill's arm, my eyes not leaving that strange man for a second. "Bill?"

He breaks his gaze from the finish line and peers down at me. He raises his brows at me, waiting for me to speak.

"Do you get the feeling that we're being watched or am I just being paranoid?"

Bill chuckles at me and suddenly I do feel as though I was being paranoid. That is until he speaks up. "People are always staring, it's just something that comes with this lifestyle."

That much I figured when I was walking side by side with Tom before the race. But I can't seem to shake the especially unnerving feeling that I'm getting from these men. "I know but--" I hesitate, pulling my bottom lip in between my teeth. "Nothing." I mutter.

"No." He persists, turning to face me, his dark eyes boring into mine. "What is it?"

I swallow thickly and intake a gush of air before continuing. "It's just those weird guys with the snake tattoo. I don't like how they're looking at me." I tell him.

Bill snorts. He raises a brow at me and I catch his eyebrow piercing that I haven't noticed before glimmer under the soft moonlight. "You mean Crenshaw's men?"

The blood drains from my face and my entire body goes rigid. This bizarre puzzle is slowly beginning to piece together into something horrifying. "What?" Is all I manage to express.
