Hiccup silently followed Hans down the palace halls. He still couldn't get over the fact he had been holding a girls hand!
And not just any girl either! The only girl that had ever made his heart pound. A beautiful, amazing, blond haired girl.
Wait, what?!
Did he just call her amazing and beautiful? He did! What is happening to me he thought, trying to keep from turning bright red.
Still he thought. She's so brave. She different from any other girl I've ever met... Stop it Hiccup! You need to focus on your upcoming coronation!
Still as hard as he tried, he couldn't keep Elsa off his mind. Do I like her he thought. He shook his head. That wasn't possible.
This wasn't one of those fairly tails where the handsome Prince falls instantly in love with the damsel in distress when he first sees her. Nope, this was real life.
But still Elsa was so sure of herself. So bold so daring. Any other girl he had met was afraid of something as dumb as mud. Not Elsa. She wasn't afraid to get dirty. Wasn't afraid to take a ride on an animal she probably had believed didn't exist.
Hiccup almost had to slap himself. Why couldn't he stop thinking about her? Maybe Jack could help him. He pulled his hand from Hans grip and said, "I meet up with you later".
With that he rushed off, not waiting for Hans to answer. He found Jacks room and knocked on the door. "Come in" Jack called. Hiccup slowly pushed open the door, stepped in and closed it. Jack was in bed, reading dragon love.
"What's wrong" Jack asked, setting his book down. Hiccup sighed and walked over to his brother. "What do you do when" he paused, trying to figure out how to phrase his next statement.
"When you can't get a girl off your mind, but it's too soon to figure out how you feel"?
Jack stared at his brother for what seamed like forever. "I think I've been having the same problem" he admitted. Hiccup cocked his head. "You have"?
"Yeah" Jack slowly nodded and got out of bed. "Let me ask you this. Does she make your heart pound"? Hiccup felt heat creep to his cheeks. "Yes" he said quietly. It was just embarrassing to admit to himself, not to mention to his brother!
Jack quietly chuckled. "Your right about it being to early to tell, but just give it time. If you actually do like this girl, you will know".
Hiccup stared at his brother. "Thanks" he said, "I think". Jack laughed and patted his shoulder. "Just give it some time".
Hiccup nodded and left the room. As he rounded the corner he bumped into his father.
"Ah Hiccup" his father said, "I was looking for you". He grabbed his wrist, "come with me".
Zachary led his son down the hall. Hiccup stumbled over his own feet it managed to stay upright.
Zachary led his son to the fitting room. "Oh no" Hiccup exclaimed, yanking his hand out of his fathers grasp. "I am not putting that thing on again"!
Zachary rolled his eyes. "That's not what were her for"! "Oh" Hiccup said, slightly embarrassed. Zachary sighed and walked over to a desk in the corner of the room.
He pulled open a draw and took out a brown box with gold along the edges. Hiccup raised an eyebrow. "What is it" he asked.
Zachary opened the box and picked up what was inside. He had his back to Hiccup so the prince couldn't see what it was.
"Um dad" Hiccup said awkwardly, "why am I here again"? Zachary snapped out of his shock and turned to face his son.
In his hands was a small round golden crown. It glittered in the sunlight and had red and blue diamonds around it. One gem was larger than the others and it was directly in he middle. The gem was a deep purple and the word Arendelle was engraved on it.
"My father gave me this crown" Zachary said after a while. "And so did his father. This crown has been in our family for over 10 generations".
Zachary held out the crown to his son. "And now I'm passing it along to you".
Hiccups hands were shaking as he reached out and slid his hands along the crown. It was so smooth and slippery Hiccup was sure he would drop it. "Thank you" was all he could manage.
Zachary simply nodded and handed him the box. "Keep it safe" he smiled and left the room. Hiccup smiled and placed the crown back into the velvet box and closed it.
He ran his fingers along the gold as he left the room. He made his way down the hall and found himself at a grand staircase. He saw Elsa polishing a suit of amour nearby and he grinned.
"Hey Elsa" he said and walked over to her. Elsa dropped the rag and turned around. She smiled when she saw him, stood up and dusted off her skirt. "How can I help you your highness"?
Hiccup stared at her blankly. Since when did she call him your highness?
Elsa laughed quietly at his expression and slightly nodded towards the bottom of the stairs where Queen Annabelle and the caption of the Musketeers, Luke were talking.
"Oh" Hiccup said, then lowered his voice. "Are we still on for the ride on Toothless later"? Elsa did her best not to blush but she managed to nod. "8:30 in the clearing" she whispered. Out of the corner of her her eye she watched Annabelle and Luke walk up the stairs.
"Well I'll see you around" your majesty Elsa slightly bower and walked down the stairs, slightly bowing as she passed the queen. Hiccup went to lean on the railing but as he did there was a loud snap!
With that the railing broke and Hiccup was pitched towards the ground!
