Elsa quickly turned away when she saw Hiccup starring at her. 'If he recognizes me I'm sunk' she thought. Audrey had already been whisked off on the dance floor by Jack and Izzy was at the snack table
"Figures" Elsa chuckled.
"What" someone asked behind her.
She spun around only to come face-to-face with Hiccup. "Uh... hi your highness" she stammered nervously. 'Please don't recognize me'!
He smiled slightly. "Please, call me Hiccup". Elsa nodded. "So" Hiccup asked, "what's your name"?
Elsa froze. She couldn't say her real name! Just be like: yeah it's me Elsa. You know I just broke out of jail to save you from insane cousin! Right?! No!
"My name is" she tacked her brain for a fake name. "Snowflake" she blurted before she could stop it. "Crystal Snowflake"!
Hiccups eyebrows shot up. "Crystal Snowflake" he repeated.
"Umm... yes" Elsa put on a fake smile. "Is that a problem". Not at all" he shook his head. "I like it. It's unique".
"Extremely" Elsa muttered under her breath. Hiccup looked around nervously, "um... would you like to dance"? He held out his hand
Elsa couldn't help the smile that crossed her face. 'He picked me out of every girl here'! She couldn't help the butterflies in her stomach when she placed her hand in his.
'Well I do like him. And make his heart pound' she thought back to the note he'd written her as they took the floor.
Elsa was grateful that it was a fast song. Hiccup was actually a pretty good dancer. After dancing for a few minutes Hiccup spoke. "How come you decided to wear boots? Most others girls are wearing heels".
Elsa shrugged. "These things are more comfortable to dance in than six-inch heels".
Hiccup laughed and threw his head back. "You remind me of a really good friend of mine" he said sheepishly. Elsa raised an eyebrow. "Her name's Elsa" Hiccup continued. "She uh, couldn't come tonight".
"That's too bad" Elsa said, trying to hide her laughs. "You like her"? Hiccup got really quiet. He didn't say anything.
For a second Elsa thought he forgot that she was standing in front in him. "So" he asked finally, trying to change the topic, "what do you do for fun"?
He'd admit, it wasn't the best conversation started but it was better than the one they were talking about!
Elsa smiled to herself. "I run" she answered. She going to try an tell him as little as possible about her so he wouldn't figure out who she was.
He chuckled, "so do I".
Elsa looked up at the stars, climbing into the night sky. "What's it's like living in the castle" she wondered.
"To me" he shrugged, "normal I guess. I lived there my whole life. When I was younger I used to get lost in all the hallways".
Elsa laughed.
The next few hours flew by. Elsa and Hiccup spent the night talking and dancing. Finally they got tired and went over to stand by the snack table.
Jack and Audrey were still in the floor and Izzy was sitting at one of the tables with Anna, talking.
Elsa poured herself and Hiccup a glass of punch. "Thanks" Hiccup said as he took it. "This has honestly been one of best nights of my life".
"I can imagine" Elsa chuckled. "First time in town"? She already knew the answer but she wanted to see his answer.
"Um" Hiccup stammered, "yeah, totally. Its amazing. First time in like forever". Hiccup was rambling but he couldn't stop.
Elsa eyebrow rose. "You are a terrible liar" she laughed. Hiccups shoulders dropped. "Okay, so maybe I've snuck into town a few times".
Elsa smiled and shook her head. Hiccup smiled too. Why did he feel like he could just open up to her? Like her knew her. Like they were close, ever though he had never met her before.
"So" Hiccup wondered after a while, will you be attending the coronation".
I honestly don't know" Elsa answered, truthfully. "I have some loose ends to tie up tomorrow".
Hiccup raised an eyebrow. Elsa waved her hands. "Don't ask. Its, um, family drama".
"Okayyy" Hiccup answered slowly. Elsa chuckled. "Just drop it. You'll only get more confused. So it was a lie but Elsa couldn't tell him the truth!
For a while Elsa forgot why was actually there! She was having too much fun! Right at that moment the song changed from a lively song to a slow song.
Street lamps had purple, blue and light green light panes in front of the light so that splashes of color danced around the ground.
Couples everywhere began to dance, including Jack and Audrey. People's eyes were locked in the person in front of them. It was like they had there own little world.
Hiccup was staring at the ground but slowly looked up at the girl in front of him. Their eyes locked and held.
Very, very slowly Hiccup started to lean towards her. Elsa felt her stomach flutter up and started to lean in too.
It was as if a giant magnet was pulling them closer and closer... until.
"Sword"!
