After a charming afternoon spent with Klaus, where they grew closer and she felt a spark of potential love, she returned home to a cozy scene. Sirius and Matt were engrossed in a football game while keeping an eye on Teddy. It warmed her heart to see them bonding, with Matt patiently explaining the rules to Sirius. Despite this newfound interest, Sirius remained a staunch Quidditch enthusiast, convinced that no sport could rival the thrill of flying on brooms—a belief shared by many in the wizarding world.
With Teddy sound asleep, Harri retreated to her room, her mind still occupied by the enigmatic photo of Katherine Pierce. Determined to uncover how this girl became Death's enemy, she delved into her research. She stumbled upon an old, hidden book that once belonged to the Potters. This slim, intriguing volume was written in Parseltongue, a language only those with the rare ability could truly understand.
The story opens with Katherine Pierce, once known as Katerina Petrova, a former witch and the second-known Petrova Doppelgänger of Amara, as well as a former vampire. In 1490, Katherine's life took a dramatic turn when her father disowned her after she gave birth to a baby girl out of wedlock at seventeen. Forced to give up her child for adoption, she was exiled to England, where she swiftly adapted to English society. There, she encountered the noble Mikaelson brothers, Niklaus and Elijah. Initially drawn to both, Katherine soon learned she was a Petrova doppelgänger and that Klaus intended to use her as a sacrifice to break the curse binding his werewolf side. To thwart his plan, she fled with the moonstone, a key element of the curse, and tricked Rose into turning her into a vampire. As a vampire, her blood was no longer suitable for the ritual, infuriating Klaus and forcing Katherine to live on the run for over 500 years.
During her early years as a vampire, Katherine adopted the alias "Katherine Pierce" and formed alliances with Pearl, Anna, and Emily Bennett. In the late 19th century, she arrived in Mystic Falls and met Stefan and Damon Salvatore, who welcomed her into their home at the Salvatore Estate. She fell in love with both brothers and turned them into vampires by feeding them her blood before they were killed by their father in 1864. When the Founder's Council discovered the identities of the town's vampires, Katherine faked her death and escaped being sealed in the tomb with the help of George Lockwood, who assisted her in exchange for the moonstone.
The book offered no clues about how she became a witch, as her lineage bore no trace of magical blood. This left a tantalizing mystery: what had she done to gain her powers? As Harri closed the book, something on the last page caught her eye. Written in what appeared to be shimmering silver ink were the words: "Find the moonstone." This cryptic message puzzled her. Klaus had been searching for the moonstone to break a curse, and Katherine had stolen and hidden it. Perhaps Katherine knew that without the moonstone, she would be powerless. Now, Harri had a new mission: to uncover the whereabouts of the elusive moonstone that everyone was desperately seeking.
Meanwhile, Klaus had tasked his siblings with the mission of finding the moonstone. This mystical artifact held the power to unleash his werewolf nature and, more importantly, to allow him and his siblings to walk in the sunlight once more, breaking the curse their mother had placed upon them. The past century had been harsh, with the world evolving around them while they remained hidden in the shadows.
Both Harri and Klaus found their thoughts drifting to each other. They both understood that the life they desired was unattainable unless they could vanquish the darkness that plagued their world. Harri, however, was no longer alone; she had her friends in England and her family in Mystic Falls to support her.
