jungkook
four months had passed—not actually sure how I was doing but I was content. "is that jungkook?" murmured a few girls at the end of the stairs. I took a deep breath and continued to walk forward to my class.
a month ago, we got our mails and we got accepted at the university that we wanted. namjoon got accepted at the most prestigious university in Korea, the KAIST, taking the Art and Humanities. which we weren't really that surprised, he received a lot of scholarships but, we don't know why he turned them all down.
"hello, jungkook," I nodded my head to be polite to whoever that was greeting me, "are you busy this weekend?" I breathed out effortlessly and turned around to look at the person; there were a few girls waiting for me to answer.
of course I didn't have any plans for the weekend, "I'm sorry—" before I could even finish, my tongue got tied and my breath was taken away when an angel just passed by. I was always awed by her beautiful smile no matter what—even if I felt guilty for hurting her so much.
"jungkook?"
"oh?" I was brought back to reality when one of the girls called my name, "ah yeah—I can't this weekend," I peeked over the girls just to see if she went to the library and when I saw her opened the door, I stepped back, "I'm sorry girls but I got to go!"
knowing that she also got accepted to the same university with me, I was so grateful even though I felt guilty that she had to see my face at campus as well. we have natural science class together with the same lecturers and the same schedules.
once I entered the library, I tried to sit as close as she was. I put down my backpack and unzipped it before I pulled out a book—it was a limited novel that she had been dying to buy, in addition, the author was her favourite.
I asked for a sticky-note from the person beside my table. then, I stuck it on the book after I wrote down a few words on it. I looked around the library until a girl walked passed my table, "excuse me!" she turned around and lifted her brows, "can you give this to the short haired girl with brown turtle neck sweater, next to the window. her name is lee hyemi."
I watched as the girl handed the book to hyemi—the way she lifted her head and furrowed her brows in confusion. her eyes twinkled and her lips formed into her most adorable smile. she bowed a little to thank her.
then she looked around the library, and before her eyes met mine, I dodged away and picked up my backpack. I got out from the library as fast as I could and that was when I was bumped with park jimin.
the three of us got accepted at the same university but he was in business major. "and why do you look like you were chased by a murderer?" he asked while head-locking me with his arm. "dude, have you seen hyemi?"
"oh?"
"why, why? why are you shocked?" I closed my mouth and looked away before he could sense something was wrong. "I wonder why you are acting different—" he looked behind us and his grip around my shoulder got tensed.
he was rather silent for a couple of seconds, so I turned around as well—that was when I realised. I didn't have any chance to get her back.
hyemi
"lee hyemi?"
I put down my pen on my journal, and lifted my head to find a girl with the most beautiful eye-smile. "yes?" she was smiling so widely while placing a book on my table—it was the limited book that I've wanted to buy. "why are—"
"someone told me to give this to you," she said while pointing the folded sticky note. I wanted to ask who but she answered me immediately as if she could read my mind, "he said he rather wants you to know him as a secret admirer."
once she walked away, I looked around the library just in case I can find the 'secret admirer' but everyone was busy with their books and phones that I just couldn't suspect anyone. I sighed silently and continued to look at the sticky note.
I could feel my heartbeat racing too fast while I was unfolding the sticky note. while reading it, my lips were curled into a smile that I couldn't remove, no mater how many times I tried.
'i don't know if you'll like this book but there is just something about this book reminds me of you. maybe the title itself reminds me of you, perhaps the flower on the book cover reminds me of your beautiful smile or maybe I'm thinking about you a little more than I should.'
the more I read it the faster my heart beats. I rested my chin on my palm as I bit my lower lip a little. I looked around once more, and I had a gut the person was outside the library. I knew that I won't find the person, but I wanted to go outside.
I made sure the book was in my hands, maybe at least I could see a person looking at me when I hold it. while looking around, the only person I saw was him—though jimin was beside him, he was the first my eyes landed too.
"hey pretty lady!" I heard a familiar deep voice calling out my name loudly, I looked at the side and smiled when chanyeol waved his hand to me. "how's my adorable junior doing?" he opened his arms wide and embraced me in the most comforting way.
chanyeol was my senior in natural science and he was also our assistant tutor sometimes. even though I had no feelings to him, still watching him wearing the lab coat with his sleeved rolled and then when he talks in class—my oh my, he was one of the most dreamy human alive.
we walked to the cafeteria together to grab lunch, I knew that some girls thought we were dating, because we were always together. it wasn't that I needed closure to distract me from jungkook, no. I kept rejecting chanyeol, but he said he'd still hang out with me.
"did you hear about the boot camp?" he asked with his mouth full—I didn't understand why was he still handsome. "it's sad that we can't come alone, last year the seniors were there with us," he rolled his eyes in annoyance.
I giggled because I found him so cute. "I don't want to come," I told him which made his eyes rounded. "I don't want to go out camping and socialise with people that I will stop seeing after two years in university."
he choked on his food after hearing me out, "I'm hurt." he took his cup of water and chugged it at once, "well don't you want to release some little stress before having more stress?" he said while wiping his mouth with a tissue. "3 days and night in boot camp, might as well have fun."
"or 3 days and nights at home, might as well do my assignments and sleep."
his expression made me rolled my eyes playfully, "oh come on, people always said that but then they will procrastinate, eat and binge some movies or dramas." I laughed at his accurate points, and then he smiled, "do join the boot camp, hyemi! I can assure that it'll be fun!"
well, his statement did make me think twice about the boot camp. even when I was at home, the boys were persuading me to come as well. I told them that I didn't want to join, "I'll think about it."
"or—" I lifted my head and waited for chanyeol to continue as he scrolled through his phone. then, he showed me a picture of a paper with names listed on it. "—you don't have to think about it cause your name is already written—"
