They went to dinner in town. He opened her car door for her and helped her out. They went into the restaurant and were seated.

He ordered them some wine and appetizers. She looked over the menu and finally made a decision.

Donnie smiled at her across the table. "So, what did you decide to have?"

"Steak and shrimp sounds really good. How about you?"

He smiled, "The steak and shrimp."

"So, how was your visit with your family? Did all your siblings show up for the holidays?"

"It was good to be back home and see my family and sons. Of course, they did. We had a great Christmas Eve with my sons, and then I got them in the afternoon on Christmas."

"That's good that she is trying to be civil with you and the boys."

"Yeah, we didn't talk. I just picked my sons up and left. She was being snotty, and I didn't feel like dealing with that. My boys don't need to see our problems."

"That's very mature of you. I know you got a little upset with me when you returned, and I told you I was working long hours. I wasn't trying to dismiss you. I just barely have time for myself."

"I know, and I am sorry about that. Please forgive my attitude. So, anything else happen when you went to visit your family?"

"I saw my sister and mother. They enjoyed the time with me. The other guy I told you I was seeing showed up in Charlotte to surprise me then he had to fly out the next day. Other than that, no."

"Oh, so he just showed up to surprise you?"

"Yeah, I was actually asleep. It was nice to be back in my home with my bed. We had a nice night and day, then he left."

"That's cool." Donnie was trying to control himself before he said something he could never take back.

She noticed how he changed after she told him about Jordan, "Donnie, I have always been honest with you, and I have been honest with him. Right now, we are just having fun, no-strings-attached fun; that's what we agreed on. I'm not interested in a relationship with you or anyone else right now."

"I know, and I know that's what agreed on. I guess it's just hard for me to hear."

"I'm sorry for that."

"Yeah, me too. So, anyway, Mark and I decided to go ahead with our project. We will be stopping by to sign with Jay this week and you as well. Our project will start two weeks after your current one finishes to give you both a break."

"Oh, okay. Jay will have to call DSS and request for my time to be extended."

"Can you do this without us having to pay DSS and just pay you?"

"My contract is with DSS. Every project has to go through them. I do the work, and they get a percentage."

"Oh, okay. How come you don't go out on your own? You have contacts and friends all over."

"Because the licenses required and everything would fall on me. Sure, I can work on a few projects with directors and producers, I know, but still, it's just better for me to stay with DSS. That way, I know I will always have a job."

"Has any of the people you have worked with tried to keep you with them rather than all the traveling?"

"Yes, Darren, my last producer in Boston, offered me a job. He told me the offer doesn't expire, and whenever I'm ready, he will be waiting for me."

"That's great. Is he the other guy you are seeing?"

"No, but it is someone I met while we were working on a project together."

"Oh, okay. Well, that seems like a great opportunity for you. You should think about it."

"Maybe one day, but not today." Their food was delivered, and they ate and enjoyed their time together. Donnie could see she was exhausted from work, and he decided to just take her home tonight, and maybe tomorrow he could cook her dinner, and they could do other stuff.

They got up and left. "Hey, Sam, you need to rest; you look exhausted. So, I am going to be good and just drop you off. Maybe we can get together tomorrow night. I can cook dinner, and we can enjoy the evening in?"

"That's sweet of you. Thank you. I have been up since five, and I am so exhausted. Tomorrow night, that sounds great."

He pulled up and parked the car; he helped her out. He leaned in and kissed her. Then watched her as she walked to her rental. He drove away after she went in and went home.

The next day, she slept in until noon, she cleaned her house and did her laundry. She showered and went to Donnie's at seven.

They sat in the living room and ate dinner. He cooked spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. He cleaned up the dishes after and then took her hand and took her to his room. They spent a few hours together, and then each showered.

He walked her to her car. He kissed her and waved as she left. She drove back home and went to bed just as Jordan called her.

They talked for a few minutes and then hung up. She drifted off to sleep and had the weirdest dream.

They both showed up while she was cleaning. They had a dance-off and singing contest for who she would be with.

No one even knew that a couple of weeks ago, she and Jay had gotten drunk and fucked while they were working. She had tried to block that night out, and they went back to work as if nothing had happened.

They had three more scenes to film and then only edit and piece the movie together. She was almost done with this project. Jay called her on Sunday and told her they had a meeting with the Wahlberg brothers tomorrow.

She already knew but couldn't let him know that. She spent the first part of Sunday relaxing then in the afternoon, she went to the studio and started editing the shoot from Friday.
