Ian's perspective
(I tried to make this cute but I don't usually write things like this so...enjoy)

Five years later

Ian Wainscott was a confident man. Normally. Right now, he was trying his hardest not to turn and run down the hallway at top speed. At 21 years of age, one would think that he had the strength to talk to his girlfriend. And normally he would, but not today. You have to understand, today, if all goes to plan, will be the day Friday agrees marry him. He had been wanting to ask for months but had never got up enough courage. Then, true to form, Melanie Pelly somehow found out and practically pushed him all the way to Friday's apartment. She had asked why he didn't get a ring but Ian knew Friday wouldn't want that. He knew that she would most likely want something that she could use so he got her a one of a kind, signed copy of Sherlock Holmes. Now, Ian was practically shaking with nerves. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. "It's open," a voice called from inside. Ian pushed open the door then stopped in his tracks. Ian Wainscott had known Friday Barnes since he was 12 and she had done some strange things in the 9 years he had known her but he had never seen her hang out a window. He had no doubt that she had done this multiple times but he had never seen it. "Friday?" He asked cautiously "what are you doing?" He put down the book and walked over the the window, ready to grab her when she inevitably slipped. "Nothing, just an experiment," she said casually as her small body tipped dangerously on the window seal. Ian nodded to himself. Friday had no problem doing dangerous stuff to conduct an experiment or prove a point. He had seen her climb a tree then dive into a rapidly moving river just to win a camp competition. He had seen her climb through air vents and she had saved him multiple times. "Ok..." he said, placing his hands on her waist and pulling her back in through the window. "How about you don't do that and live to see 30?" Friday looked at him but he could see her giving in as she put her notepad and pen on the desk. "So what are you doing here. I though you had work?" She asks, taking off her cardigan and throwing it onto her bed. Ian's stomach exploded with butterflies as he pointed to the book on the desk. "I brought you something." Friday looked curiously at the book on the desk then back to him. "Why?"
"Just...go look at it"
"But what is it?"
"Friday-"
"Ok ok I'm going"
She wandered over to the desk, her bare ankle hitting the corner of the desk with a small thud. She didn't even flinch. She picked up the book, read the title then looked up at him sceptically. "I already have Sherlock Holmes." She said, pointing to the bookshelf. "Open it to the title page." Ian said, the butterflies swarming faster. She flipped to the title page then saw the signature. Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. "How did you-?" She asked but Ian cut her off, "turn to the back." Friday flipped to the back page then, faster than Ian had ever seen her move, dropped the book on the desk and threw herself at him. "Is that a yes...?" He asked, stumbling backwards slightly and pulling her closer. "Yes, I'll marry you Ian. I'd love to" she cried, her voice muffled by his shirt. "Why are you crying?" He asked with a chuckle. "Because I'm so happy." She replied. A single tear slid down his cheek because, he was also very, very happy. She gripped him tighter and he placed a small kiss to her forehead, more tears sliding off his cheeks and into her hair. They stood like that for ages, both silently crying tears of joy, before Ian whispered "your tears are soaking through my shirt." Friday pulled away, a small laugh escaping her. Ian felt ready to burst. Friday had said yes, she had agreed to spending her life with him and that was all he could ever want. It's all he'd ever wanted.
