Oliver watched with James Pelly as the girls soccer team tryouts took place on the oval.
James and Oliver were best friends. They had known each other since birth as their mothers were also best fronds, and so the friendship had carried over.
"I heard her dad was captain of almost every team." He said, watching the blond girl.
She looked like a Greek goddess, and Ollie was fascinated by her scars. This girl had clearly lived an exiting life.
Ollie looked at James, "what do you mean 'you heard'?" Aunt Mel told you."
James shrugged. "Still heard it didn't I?"
While Melanie wasn't related to Oliver in any way, he had practically grown up with her and James. It was always the four of them, Ollie, James, Melanie, and Friday. They were a family.
Missy stood in front of the girl with the ball who was running towards her.
As the girl ran past, Missy stuck her foot out and took the ball from between her feet and ran down the pitch, kicking the ball between her feet.
She went around multiple players and took her shot.
It went in the top right corner, spinning in the net.
Mr Fontana blew his whistle.
Game over.
Missy got several pats on the back as she walked to the change rooms with her best friend Maya. She looked up and saw the boys staring at her.
She smirked, and disappeared into the brick building.
She came and sat beside them a few moments later, dumping her things and rocking back on her chair.
"Do you think you'll make captain?" James asked, not at all bothered by the beautiful girl.
She pulled out her ponytail and ran her hand through her blond hair. "I hope so. But if not then there's always basketball, and football, and lacrosse and Polo and cross country."
James looked at her, "I don't know how you have the energy to do all that."
She shrugged, "genetics I guess. My dad did all of it so I guess I can too."
The bell went for lunch.
They got up to go to the lunch hall but Missy turned left, not right.
"Where are you going?" Ollie asked.
"I have a date with detention." She said, walking backwards.
"But it's only been 3 days since we got here!" He said.
She nodded. "I know, three days of no trouble, that's a new record."
She disappeared down the hallway.
James nudged Ollie. "You've got a fat crush on Missy."
Ollie turned away. "I do not."
James shrugged. "Whatever you say."
