Oliver was bored without Missy.
It had been almost a month since she had been dragged out of the admin block by her dad.
Yes he still had James, but Missy brought a different level of interesting.
He wanted her back.
The whole school seemed to feel the same way when most of the sports teams began to loose rankings.
Missy was captain of pretty much all teams and without her they were beginning to fall apart.
"Another lost game." James said, jogging over from talking to Micheal, who was co-captain of the basketball team.
"So, put that with the soccer games, lacrosse, cricket, AFL, polo, rowing and cross country, and we're falling rapidly." Oliver concluded.
Micheal must have heard because he called "Hey, Barnes, you gotta get your girlfriend back."
Oliver frowned. "She's not my girlfriend."
James raised his eyebrows. "Mmm hmmmm"
Oliver ignored him, and practically ran to Dr Belcredi's office.
He knocked on the door and went in when she called.
"Dr Belcredi, I've come to convince you to cut Missy's suspension." He said, not sitting.
Dr Belcredi put her pen down, a slight smirk on her face. "Alright. Sure."
Oliver pulled out a notepad where he had been writing everything down.
"As you can see, with her gone, almost every sports team had dropped rankings or is beginning to continually loose games. This is putting the happiness of the members down and is effecting their performance in class. Also, Missy held up a large chunk of the average grade, other than me, and our average for year seven has gone from an average grade of A+ to a B+ which, quite frankly, hurts me. It would benefit everyone to have her back."
He sucked in a breath.
Dr Belcredi thought for a moment then asked. "What about her punishment?"
"What?" Oliver asked.
"Well, she punched a boy, for you, i might add. While I agree, she is needed, she can't get off punishment free."
Oliver thought for a moment. "You could have her removed from the captain position on the sports teams?"
Dr Belcredi nodded. "Ok. That sounds like a good punishment. I'll call her dad. Thank you, Mr Barnes."
Oliver blinked. That had been easier than he was expecting.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.Missy was back at school two days later and everyone was glad to see her.
She spent most of the day in study hall, catching up on assignments and working on strategies for the sports teams.
Oliver and James wandered into the hall and saw her in a chair next to the large window, her head bobbing along to the music she was listening to while she studied.
James pulled out the chair next to her and sat down.
She pulled out her earbuds. "Hey guys. Miss me so much you had to get the headmistress to call my Dad to get me back. I'm flattered."
Oliver went pink.
James took the ear buds from Missy and put them in zoning out from their conversation.
Oliver pulled over a chair. "So how was home?
She nodded, "pretty boring. Oh, has your mum said anything about her and my dad?"
Oliver nodded. He had gotten a letter from his mum a few days ago.
Apparently his mum and Missy's dad were getting back together, or trying to, at least.
"Yeah, I hope it works out. Dad has been so lonely lately. I mean, he was fine before, but I'm not around much anymore and he's on his own. Having someone around will be good for him." She said, handing Oliver her maths works sheet. "Check this for me will you?"
Oliver took the sheet and read it over. "Mum had been a bit over worked. Aunt Mel can only do so much. Plus, they were a good couple when they were younger."
They spent most of the afternoon in the study hall, before James' phone rang in his pocket.
Phones are only a new acceptation at Highcrest, since majority of the student body snuck them in anyway.
He pulled it out and answered. "Hello, mum, what's up?"
James listened for a moment then handed the phone to Oliver. "She wants to talk to you."
Oliver took the phone. "Hello, Aunt Melanie?"
'OLLIE HAVE YOU HEARD? Your mum is going out with Ian Wainscott again!"
Oliver smiled. "I heard."
'This is so great. I knew they would get together! Does Missy know yet?'
"Yeah Missy knows too." He said.
'Let me talk to her will you? Ian says such great things about her."
Oliver laughed again. "Yeah sure."
He handed Missy the phone.
Missy took it. She had never met Melanie Pelly, but she seemed like the person you could immediately become friends with.
"Hello Miss Pelly. How are you? I'm great. Oh yeah I know, I saw them leave. I KNOW RIGHT!"
Missy spoke with so much energy and Oliver smiled. He had a feeling that Missy and Melanie were going to get along really well.
She said good but and hung up, hanging the phone back to James.
"What was the 'I KNOW RIGHT!' About?" James asked.
Missy kicked her chair back and grabbed her satchel. "She said that they were a cute couple. And I agreed."
