Hey, so nobody asked for this but I told my friend and she rly wanted to see it so I wrote it for her and I though I may as well post it so...enjoy!
(I have lots of little ideas for different scenes so it might be a bit messy)Friday's perspective
Not much had gone to plan in Friday Barnes' life and, as much as she would have liked it to, neither did her pregnancy. She now sat at the kitchen table, lost in thought. 'Hey Friday' Ian said, bouncing out of the bedroom. Friday didn't respond. 'Friday? What's wrong?' Friday took a breath. 'So you know how we're having a boy?' Ian blinked then narrowed his eyes 'yes, I have heard about our son' he said sceptically. Friday took another deep breath. 'Well, we're also having...a girl...' she held her breath, not sure how Ian would respond. 'Twins?' He asked, putting down the kettle and mug he had been using to make tea. Friday nodded, waiting for his reaction. She could see his brain processing this new information. Then, Ian did the most peculiar thing, he began to dance around the room, pure joy etched into every detail of his face. Friday laughed. She enjoyed seeing Ian this happy. Ian then stopped dancing and looked at her, a serious expression on his face. 'What are we gonna do?' He asked, sliding into the seat best to her. 'We'll need to get double the stuff but what will we call her?'
'Well, I was thinking you could name her' she said, 'considering you let me pick the name originally.' Ian nodded, tapped the table twice then stood up and grabbed his keys. 'Ok I'm gonna go get more stuff, you just...do whatever it is pregnant people do.' And with that, he left, shutting the door gently behind him.*five month time skip to when the twins are first born*
Friday slouched into the kitchen to find a cup of coffee already waiting for her. Scribbled on a piece of paper was the word: morning xx.
Friday smiled as she put the mug in the microwave to heat the coffee up. A few seconds later, she lunged for the microwave, turning it off as quickly at possible and pulling out the mug. She took out the teaspoon and dropped it in the sink, breathing a sigh of relief. She then checked that there was no other way she could blow up the microwave then put the coffee back in. While she waited, she strolled into the living room to find Ian. What she saw made her want to melt. Ian was lying on the couch, one arm around Jacks, their son, who was lying next to him and Kira, their daughter, who was lying on his stomach. The twins looked as comfortable as infants could and Ian looked perfectly content, his blond hair messy and his left leg hanging off the couch. All three of them slept peacefully, their breathing patterns almost the same.Friday smiled. It was times like this that showed how right she was. When she had told Ian she was pregnant, he had panicked while she had stayed completely calm. She remembered watching from the doorway as Ian paced the length of the living room, completely terrified. She had told him that it would be fine but all through out her pregnancy he had panicked. Friday was glad. With him panicking for the both of them, she could get things done. She couldn't remember what those things were but the point was that she was right, as usual.
Ian shifted slightly and Kira began to cry, waking Ian up. He took his arm away from Jacks and began to pat Kira on the back in a weak attempt to make her stop. 'Come on Kira' Ian begged. 'I just want to sleep.' Friday smiled. She loved Ian but she was having a thorough debate about weather to go help him or go get her coffee. When Jacks began to cry, Friday stepped towards and took the sofa seat next to Ian, cradling Jacks in her arms. Sorry Ian yawned as he sat up properly too, did you manage to sleep? Friday nodded, leaning into Ians chest as she gently bounced Jacks. Eventually the twins stopped crying and went back to sleep. Im so tired Friday yawned, closing her eyes. Ian laughed quietly, so am I he whispered, resting his head on hers, so am I.
* six year time skip *
Friday stood in the kitchen, a plate of food in her hand, watching out the window. Every Saturday morning for the past five years, without fail, Kira and Ian would get up at 6:30am and go outside. They would kick a soccer ball or tackle each other or something else that involved a lot of energy. Normally Friday would still be asleep but she had awoken early, not able to get much sleep. The had felt Ian get up and decided to also get up, seeing no point it lying around. She watched happily as Kira ran at top speed towards her dad, a soccer ball at her feet, ready to kick. being only six years old, her aim was very, very bad. she kicked the soccer ball and it hit Ian in the stomach, making him double over for a second. when Kira went to investigate, he reached out and began the case her. Kira screamed, giggling as she ran around the lawn. Ian caught her and she began to hit him wildly. Ian sat down and Kira threw herself at him, making him fall back. Friday watched as her daughter and husband wrestled for the better part of an hour before they both slouched inside, their energy gone. Friday smiled as she looked at her dishevelled family. Kira had grass stains on her pants and her light brown hair was messy but her blue eyes were bright as she sat in the kitchen floor panting. Ian was no better. his hair was also a mess, with dirt smudged on his face. he took a seed at the kitchen table, also puffing for air. "Mum" Kira said, lying down, her arms and legs spread out like a star, "I won." Ian laughed, "in your dreams, I definitely won." Kira sat up "no I did, cos, cos....." but she never finished because Ian was holding a plate of pancakes in front of her. Her small button nose twitched as she breathed in the smell. "Ok you won" she said, taking the plate from Ian and climbing up into the chair next to him. Just then, Jacks came running down the hallway. "Morning" he said, taking the plate from Friday and sitting on the floor. Friday had no idea why her son sat on the floor but he did, and she didn't stop him. This was now her life. Watching her daughter and husband play on the grass and sitting next to her son while he drew or read books. This was the life she didn't know she'd wanted and the one she would was always be grateful for.
