[Bonjour.

Hum hum. Hum hum. Hum hum.

Disregard the background and the color of their clothes. Don't disregard their skirt though. They are important.

Is there a fic where ANHS is basically a free-for-all competition? Instead of competing against classes, you compete with all students. Only the top 40 students get Class A privileges, and you would need to compete with all others. Classes still exist, but they are changed based on monthly updating of the rankings. That would be kind of entertaining to read if I had to say so.

Especially if Kiyotaka with his curious nature manipulated his scores to end up in all classes, for example progressively improving after Class D settled itself. To make things interesting, you could choose categories that influence the evaluation. Cooperation, for example, is the ability of the students to cooperate with their fellow rivals and make mutually beneficial contracts which have to be authenticated by the school. Social inclusion: Are they able to have social connections despite the competition, can they form teams, and can the students compete in groups they form? Since 40 Students can make the cut, students also gather to compete together. Sudou for example would be great to be paired with an academically superior student and they help each other with their strengths.

Don't ask me why I wrote the beginning in that way, I was bored, and I read some stories with this style recently. It's an over-the-top exaggeration, but it's done on purpose lol.

Anyway, onto the chapter.]

POV-Chan was flying in the air watching Kiyotaka from afar, giggling cutely and anticipating what would happen next. She was ecstatic seeing Kiyo in action her hands balled into fists and she couldn't help but shout, "Get them Onii-Sama!" Acting all cutesy like a certain black-haired sister of an irregular magician.

A nudge at the corner of his mind, well-nigh draped his senses, as the brown-haired boy experienced the mysterious address he didn't wholly grasp. He disregarded the confusing event and refocused on the three individuals in front of him.

Their countenance revealed the utter despair dwelling in their hearts, gnawing at their spirits. With swiftness, the spring breeze came, the coolness of the wind sent a slight shiver up the leader's spine and the gaze of despair slowly lit up anew, steeled with determination.

"Hand over thy fantastic contraption, so that we all forget about this unfortunate event."

His voice carried through, invoking the barbaric desire of his companions. Laced with hidden threat in the brevity of the situation, it didn't go past the boy's attention but–

"If thou desire it, thou join and get it." The boy with brown hair, Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, responded. His voice was devoid of stirring emotions, betraying his position in the tapestry of their interactions, the gamble the parties were about to take– with the future as their wager.

The leader decided he had to act. He would rather be accused of starting a brawl instead of being expelled due to leaking confidential information to the 1st years.

Not bothering to respond, he immediately closed the distance between the two. Instead of going for the phone in Kiyotaka's hand, he went for the shoulder, wanting to get Kiyotaka's arm into a hold. Still, before he could succeed, Kiyotaka took a swift step to the side and kicked his foot while pushing him directly with a hand on his chest.

"Ugh."

Because he had no balance he landed on his butt and had the breath pushed out of his lungs by the force of the push, his friends patted his shoulder as they passed him and went towards their target. Encouraging him to get up.
