Chapter 8- Going Home

It had been 3 weeks since we got to Wales, and this trip has been the most valuable trip to my wellbeing. Mark gave my resume to a museum in London and I officially applied for a job there. I had connected with Alex, who I now consider by boyfriend, and I realised I can live with myself.
I sat next to Alex on the plane home again, and slept on his shoulder again. When I got home, I grabbed my guitar. I started humming a song I'd heard the Arctic Monkeys playing, and I quickly picked up the chords. Then I remembered that our apartments have REALLY thin walls. I remembered when I heard Alex singing the lyrics and telling me I got a chord wrong. "Very close, love." He said. I could tell he was smiling. Ugh. I wish that hadn't been such an embarrassing encounter for me, it would have been much sweeter if I didn't make a fool of myself.
About an hour later, Alex texted me.

Hey do you want to go to dinner later? Xx -Alex

"SURE!!"I screamed directly into my wall. I heard laughing on the other side.

At 7:30, we set off. We went to a little cafe by our house. We were enjoying dinner and having a great time when a familiar face walked in. "Oh shit" I whispered. It was Will. He looked like he had just come home from his expensive university, he was with his friends and was still in uniform. As usual, he was extremely rude to the waitress and the manager when he passed by. "What's wrong?" Alex asked. "I'll tell you on the way out, we need to leave." Without question, Alex threw a £20 on the table and got up. "excuse me, can we leave out the back please?" I asked the waitress. "Uhhh, I guess so." She said, clearly confused by why we left out the back. After we got about a block away, Alex started questioning me. "Who are you avoiding? Is it someone I should know about?" Alex asked intently. "I'll tell you about it at my flat. Do you want to stay the night?" Even though I asked, I really meant PLEASE STAY! I knew if I went to Alex's or if he went alone, I'd never here from him again.
When we got to my flat, I immediately locked the door and told Mia and Emily I saw Will and that Alex was staying with us. They knew why. "Annie, please tell me what's going on. Are you okay? Is someone after you?"

Alex's POV

I asked Annie what was wrong. A million things were running through my mind. Was someone following her? Was it a previous boyfriend or someone related to her parents? She had already avoided the subject every time something brought it up, and I had figured I'd eventually find out.
"Okay, there is someone following me. His name is Will Colden, and he was my boyfriend in school. My parents wanted us to get married when we finished, because his family had millions of pounds. I told him I didn't want to get married, and he told me if I tried to date anyone else his family would come after me. My family agreed with him and his family, and at one point I couldn't take it anymore. I took £10,000 which was basically already my yearly allowance because my family had billions. I ran away in the middle of the night and took a train to London. When I got here, some of Colden's people tried to take me back to Edinburgh, but I reported them right when they were dragging me back. I moved in with Mia and Emily, and I told the authorities to keep as many of Colden's people away, and they do their best but many work undercover. I even changed my name to get away. My real name is Arabella. I have to be careful now, and when I saw Will I knew he would kill you if he knew we were dating. I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have put you at risk. I just can't have a boyfriend now." She said, sobbing.
At that moment, I hugged her and told her "An.. I mean Arabella, I'm not going to leave you because some rich prick is following you." I said with an amazing amount of confidence. Then I kissed her, and we stood there in her room for at least a minute before we broke and hopped onto her bed. She fell asleep on my chest, and soon I did too. I knew I loved her.
