Chapter 17- I knew it!

I looked at his phone. I was terrified of Alex cheating on me or someone after him or any of the other things that were possible. Sixteen missed calls and forty-six texts from 💔💁🏼. What did that mean? An ex? I looked at all the texts, probably sent when she was drunk, but what caught my eye was he fact that Alex responded to some of them with nice comments like, 'I bet you're still beautiful'. A million things went through my mind. Was Alex cheating on me?
"ALEX WAKE UP!" I screamed from the kitchen. "I'm coming I'm coming." He said. "Alex who is this girl? Are you....... Cheating on me? I said. "NO NO NO!!!! Ugh I hate Sloane so much!!! What did she say!! Did she send me a bunch of texts? Of course she did. She was probably as drunk as usual." He said. "Alex, I don't care if some dumb ex is texting you, but you texted back! Why would you do that!?" I said, almost crying. "I didn't! Look, one of the boys must have sent those texts as a joke! Please believe me!! Im not cheating on you!" Alex practically begged. "I knew it! I knew you wouldn't cheat on me. I'm sorry, I'm just kind of a mess right now. I was thinking, 'do I want to know if you're cheating?" I said, now sobbing into his arm. "Sweetheart, I promise I'll never put you through that again. Baby, I'm yours." Alex said.
After a long conversation full of 'I love yous' I headed to work. (Yeah, we got crazy drunk on a weeknight) When I got there, I knew exactly who was anxiously awaiting an explanation of my insane life, Cooper. "UGHH. I'm so tired!"I said. "Ok, explain at lunch! I want details! I mean, not too TMI, because..... Do you get my drift?" Cooper said. "Yes Cooper! Lets get to work." I said.
At lunch, I told Cooper everything. I trusted him, he really was my best friend. Of course, he made a joke out of everything. Then Alex texted me.

Hey, want to go to dinner tonight? I think we should celebrate without being insanely drunk and without texts from mad exes. Xx- Alex

I 'd love to! Let's go at 7:30. Btw, why did you text me in the middle of the day? You could have asked me at home, we do live together now... xx- Annie

"Ooh, was that Alex! What'd he say!" Cooper asked. "You are so nosy!" I said. Ugh, I can't escape the questions!
After work, I headed to the store to pick up some groceries. I got everything I needed before heading to the check out counter and paying for everything I had. I walked outside and started walking to the crosswalk to cross into our flat, when someone's arms wrapped around me. "Alex! Get off!" I said playfully. "Alex really!"
