Chapter 18- Cooper

I jolted around. I expected to see Alex, being an idiot and wrapping his arms around my waist. Instead, I saw some random guy surrounded by three other men. "GET OFF!" I screamed in terror. The man said something I couldn't understand because his words were extremely slurred. "ALEX HELP!" I screamed. "ANYONE HELP!"

Alex's POV

"Okay, so I know you and Annie are good friends, but I just need to know, have you guys ever been together?" I said to Cooper. I was afraid of him being so close to Annie. I was..... Scared. "Of course not! We"re just good friends, ok? Annie would never cheat on you, and my girlfriend is-" He was cut off by a terrified scream. "ALEX HELP" I knew it was Annie. Cooper and I both bolted to the door, terrified of what was happening. I looked across the street to see four men surrounding Annie. They pushed her into an alley. "WERE COMING ANNIE!" I screamed. I ran across the street and bolted to the alley, Then looked back to find Cooper. COOPER!!! WERE ARE YOU!!!!! I ran back to the street, as quickly as possible, only to see Cooper had been hit by a car. I was petrified. Save Annie's best friend, or let her be assaulted by these men? I screamed" CALL 999!" At the driver that hit Cooper and ran to the alley. I saw Annie, lying on the ground, surrounded by the men. She had just been shoved down when she looked up at me and all the men turned around. "RUN NOW!" I screamed at her, and she bolted to where Cooper was on the street. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to fight them off, but they were all clearly drunk. I kicked one down to the ground, punched two in the face unconscious, and kneed the 'leader' in the stomach. Then I ran to the street. The emergency services had arrived, and I pointed in the direction of the alley to a police officer. I looked down to see Cooper's body, unconscious and badly beaten up. A few minutes later, his girlfriend, Miranda, who was also from Texas, arrived and lay over his body. "Oh sweetie pie, don't die baby! Please!" She said. She was sobbing like mad. One of his mates, Harry, was trying to comfort Miranda. "It'll be ok, I promise." He said. I then looked for Annie, who was talking to a policeman about what happened. I ran over to them. "It was my fault! He and Alex ran over to me to help, but a car hit him. I have no idea why he was with Alex." She said. She hadn't realised I was behind her until I said," no it was my fault. If I wasn't such an overprotective idiot, I wouldn't have gotten him hurt. " I said to the officer. "I am really confused. Please explain what happened from when you and Cooper where in your flat. " He said. "Ok, I was talking to Cooper about Annie-" i was cut off. "Wait wait!" Annie said. "I'll explain later. Anyway, then we heard Annie scream from the alley where those men were harassing her, and we ran across the street to help her, but when I looked back to find Cooper, he had been hit." I said. "Ok, it looks like it was no ones fault, but I will be questioning Cooper when he wakes up. Since you guys were questioned, you can't be with Cooper when he wakes up. I'm sorry, but you will have to wait until the morning. I wrapped my arm around Annie going over to Miranda and Harry, who weren't allowed in the ambulance. "Miranda!" Annie screamed. She ran over to her and they hugged each other. As I told Harry I was sorry it had happened, I went over to Miranda and Annie. I said my apologies to miranda and then she started to speak in a barely understandable southern accent, well, I bet that's what she thinks of us! "Guys, Cooper always told me to trust you two. When we came over here from Texas, it was only us. Then Cooper met you, Annie, and quickly befriended both of you. So I feel obligated to tell you, if Cooper doesn't make it, I'm pregnant." She sounded terrified.

Annie's POV

"Miranda! I'm so happy for you, I'm so sorry we had to find out this way!" i said, before hugging her tightly. I knew Cooper had been acting awfully perky these last few weeks. Then, I suddenly felt awfully dizzy, "Ale-" Then, I almost feel to the ground before Alex caught me.
"Ughhhhhh." I moaned. I sat up in my bed, looked at Alex next to me. I smelled the most amazing scent coming from the kitchen, along with blaring country music. "Whaaaa" I said. "I'll explain soon. What do you remember from lat night?" Alex asked. "Um, everything up to Miranda telling us she was pregnant, then I blacked out. Wait, is she in our kitchen?" Yes, I invited her to stay the night. Trust me, she didn't stop crying for a LONG time." Alex said. "Yep, Miranda is in our kitchen. She just can't stop being generous! Her boyfriend was almost killed and now she's making breakfast for us!" I said. "She is great." Alex said. I got dressed and headed to the kitchen. "Morning y'all! The doctor called this mornin' and Coop's ( awww!) gonna be just fine, but he'll be in a coma for at least two days and were not allowed to visit. But, I wanted to thank you for letting me stay here, so I made breakfast!" She said. Wow. Were to start! First of all, her hair looked like all the blonde hair extensions in the world had been put into a surprisingly cute pony-tail. I don't know how she did it, but she has awesome style! And, she made us breakfast, for thirty people! Think of the perfect breakfast, and then every other breakfast food, multiplied by a million. That was what was in front of us.
We ate with her and talked about our plan for when Cooper wakes up. Who's picking up who, etc. Then, we helped her box up all of the food before splitting it evenly. I wonder what their freezer looks like! Because ours was full of enough breakfasts for us to eat until we died! We thanked her and let her out.
"So, what now?" I said to Alex. "Ok, well, we need to clean the couch and the kitchen and- just kidding." He said, before kissing me. I knew no cleaning would be going on today.....
