Kalmar sat in the balcony of his room. His legs hanging over the side. (Although his mother told him continuously not to do this) He was enjoying the morning breeze and watching the sun peek over the waters that surrounded Anniera.

He could see some early risers in the village, making sure their stores were ready for opening time.

He could hear Leeli's whistleharp faintly as she played in the courtyard below although he couldn't make out the song. The wind carried it up into the air. She liked to get up early to practice so she could be alone.

Janner and Sara had left early that morning to watch the sunrise so Kal could imagine them on the beach right this minute.

Kal liked to be alone sometimes. Just to be alone and watch the land wake up from the night's sleep.

"Thought you couldn't be up here like that." Maraly said from her balcony somewhat to the side of him.

"Hey Maraly! Wanna come over here?" He asked. She thought for a minute and jumped up onto one of the towers, and made her way to his balcony.

"You can just go inside and walk in through the door. You know, not putting your life in danger." Kal said nervously.

"Where's the fun in that?" She said with a smirk as she to, dangled her feet from the edge.

They sat up there in silence. "Never can understand why you like coming up here." Maraly said with no interest.

"It's nice up here. It's calm and quiet. You know, helps me be ready for the day ahead." Kal replied.

Maraly shrugged. "I don't know. Not my thing." She said.

Kal looked at her. He loved her but he could tell she had no feelings for him. Not for anyone. "What is your thing?" He asked.

She smiled and said, "You know me. I like to wake up early and throw a dagger at a pillow, jump on the roof, something like that. I may not live in the strand anymore but I'm still a strander. Don't get me wrong. Livin here with you lot is great but I want to go back. Back to the way me and Gammon lived. I want to be the Shadow Blade again! I ain't cut out for this royal life! I ain't cut out for any life but mine." She looked at Kal and said, "You guys have been real good to me. But, I think it's time I left. Keep doing what makes me Maraly Weaver! I miss that life. Kal what Im saying is, I'm leaving soon. I can't stay here. It ain't me." She got quiet.

Kal looked at her with wide eyes. He wanted to tell her how he felt. Maybe she'd stay. Maybe if he told her, she'd realize that she belongs here. That she was wanted here. If he told her then maybe she'd stay and be... Kal realized if Maraly stayed, she wouldn't be happy. Kal would never want her to be unhappy.

"If that's what you want. I Can have a ship ready by this afternoon." Kal said sadly. "You mean it?" She said with excitement. "Yeah. If you want, it will take you wherever you want to go. You can live your life the way you want." He said without meeting her eyes.

"Yes! Kalmar thank you!" She exclaimed. She looked at him and kissed his cheek in gratitude. Kalmar instantly remembered when she had done this to him the day he beat her father by taking his pone.

"You're welcome. We'd better get ready for breakfast." He said as he swung his feet back over the balcony and went into his room. Leaving Maraly alone on the balcony.

At breakfast Kal did not eat as Maraly explained everyone that she was leaving and all that. "We are very happy for you Maraly." Arundelle said. "But we will miss you." Artham said. "Immensely." Nia said as she wiped a tear from her cheek.

Sara, Leeli, Nia, and Arundelle helped Maraly get ready for her voyage while Kal trudged though his day in a daze.

"Kal. Kal? Hey Kal! Kalmar Wingfeather!!" Janner yelled as Kal snapped out of his daze. "Huh?" He looked around in confusion. "We were discussing an alliance with King  John. It's your turn to sign the papers." Janner said as Kal's cheeks turned red with embarrassment. "Yes of course. My apologies your highness." He said as he signed the papers. "Not a problem King Kalmar. Glad we are United." He said as he left the castle.
