Janner

"Finally! We are done!" Kal exclaimed. "I thought that meeting would go on forever!" Janner said.

They had just got back from a meeting with the kings that were their allies. It was the most boring thing ever.

"How about we go home and have some of Momma's stew?" Kal suggested. "Now that, is a good idea." Janner said with a smile.

Janner and Kal walked down the street and Kal said, "Wait! You hear that?" Janner and Kal stopped to listen and they heard whistleharp music. "Leeli." Janner and Kal said at the same time.

They followed the music and saw their sister in the middle of a circle full of Annierans listening to the Song Maiden play her songs. She had just finished a sailors tune called, "Scrub the Deck I Tell Ye!" And all the men, women, and children were laughing at the way they danced to the song. As the crowd dispersed, Janner and Kal heard people say to Leeli, "Thank you Your Highness!" Or, "Our beautiful Song Maiden! You have a gift!" Leeli was grinning from ear to ear.

"Hey Your Highness! If you aren't to busy, we'd like to head home to Momma's stew!" Janner said. The remaining people bowed for the High King and the Throne Warden.

"I'd love to!" Leeli said. The Jewels of Anniera walked back through the kingdom to the Castle.

That night, as they were having dinner Kal was explaining all about how incredibly boring the meetings were. As he usually does. Janner just sat quietly and waited for Kal to finish his rant.

Janner leaned in and whispered to Sara, "I missed you." Sara smiled and said, "I missed you to. According to Kalmar you two had a very exciting day." Janner groaned. "It was the most fun filled day of my life." He said sarcastically. Sara smiled and that made Janner smile. "What?" She asked. "Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" Janner asked. "Oh Janner!" Sara smiled as Janner put his arm around her.

Janner and Sara went on a walk that evening and everything seemed right with the world. The couple laughed and talked about whatever made them happy.

"Sara. Can i ask you something?" Janner said. "Anything." She said with a smile. "Can you miss someone you've only met once for a brief moment?" Janner asked.

Sara thought for a minute and said, "You miss your father don't you?" She asked. Janner sighed. "Well not exactly. I didn't know him but I feel like I miss him. I met him once. It hurts but somehow it feels like a different hurt. You know what I mean?" Janner asked. Sara smiled and said, "Janner I'm sorry but. I don't really understand. I wish I could." Janner nodded. He had talked about it with Leeli and Kal and they felt the same way but they didn't know what to call the feeling. It had been bothering Janner for a while now.

"Never mind. Thanks anyways." Janner said and they kept walking only this time, in silence.

When they got to the castle, Sara asked if Janner when Janner would be in bed. "I'll be there soon. I love you." He said as he kissed her and he walked away.

He walked to Leeli's room and knocked on the door. "I'm coming!" He heard her say. He heard her soft footsteps and the light sound her crutch made when she walked. "Hi Janner! Are you okay?" She asked when she opened the door.

Janner shrugged. "I wanted to talk to you." He said. Leeli nodded and let him in. They sat on the bed in silence for a minute and Janner spoke. "You know that feeling you, me, and Kal tried to understand? About Father?" Janner asked. Before she answered, Kal walked in. "What about me?" He asked. Normally Janner would have been annoyed at him for ease-dropping but this concerned Kal to.

Janner looked at him and asked, "Remember what we were all talking about once about the feeling we feel about Papa?" Janner asked. Kal nodded and sat down.
