Janner and Kal had been walking for about a long time. It was so dark. Janner was thankful that he had thought about making a torch but he wanted to save it for when they really needed it. The cave was full of different paths and all and Janner had no idea if they were taking the right ones but somehow Janner could feel that every path he took was drive right one.

"I can't see a thing." Kal whispered. Janner's throat was feeling much better since he hadn't talked in the last hour so when he opened his mouth to speak, he was happy that Leeli's little plant mixtures had worked. Still, he stuttered a bit as he said, "Yeah. I w-want to save the torch  for when we r-really need it." "Yeah makes sense." Kal said.

Suddenly Janner felt unsafe. He remembered the time where he and Kal were in a cave together. When Kal was a Wolf Fang. When he had snapped and tried to hurt him. It was as dark as it was now. Dark and scary. Kal must have sensed this because he said, "I'm not going ti do anything I promise." Janner half laughed and said, "Kal I know. I'm just kinda n-nervous that's a-all" Then, Janner felt ashamed. Ashamed of thinking that about his little brother. He knew that he was not a Wolf Fang anymore. He was just remembering the fear of that day.

As the brothers walked down the long dark cave, they began to have doubts. "Janner maybe we should turn back. We've been walking for a while now and there is no end in sight. There is nothing in site really." Kal said. "Kal i know
th-that this is the right cave. I-I know it. Maybe." Janner said with doubt.

Kal was about to respond when they heard something. A voice. "Can you try to find the backpack of food we received? I don't trust it but we need to eat."

Janner hurried to make his torch and when he lit it, he pointed it toward the voices. He and Kal knew that the voices must have bounced off the wall in an echo because they didn't see anyone but they were really close. Janner and Kal broke into a run. Had they finally reached them? Were they finally going to see their family again? Janner's heart raced at the thought of holding Sara in his arms again. All he had to do was turn this last corner.

SARA'S POV
All Sara wanted to do was to go home. She sat by the cave wall and had her face in her hands. She knew Nia wouldn't approve of her sulking but what did it matter? It's not like Nia could see her anyways. It was getting cooler in the cave and Sara had on her normal summer gown so she was starting to get cold.

It didn't matter though. She felt so alone and lost. Maybe we will never be found. Maybe I'll just never see Janner again. What was she saying? How could she think that? Sara knew that these thoughts shouldn't be in her mind but how could she not think of the worst?

She felt someone sit beside her. "I know what you're thinking Sara. We will see them again." Nia said. "How did you know I was the one sitting here first of all?" Sara asked. "Sara, it may be to dark to see but I know you. You are thinking about Janner and how you may never see him again. A mother's heart is never wrong." She said. Sara chuckled and said, "Good guesser." Nia reached and pulled Sara into a hug and said, "Don't worry Sara. Everything will be alright."

In Nia's arms, Sara felt so safe. Like she once had when her own mother would wrap her arms around her all those years ago. Suddenly Sara felt tears sting her eyes. She took a shaky breath and said, "I'm just so worried. Not just about us. But about Anneria. What will happen if Lingston succeeds?" Nia didn't say anything for a long time. And then she spoke, "I don't know Sara. I just don't know."

"Sara, I promise you that we will make it out of here." Artham said from somewhere on her other said. "Yeah Sara. I bet you that Janner is looking for you right now." Galya said from somewhere in front of her. In her little circle of family and a friend, she felt comforted. "Thank you guys. I feel a lot better." She said as she wiped away her tears. "Now let's see what we have in those backpacks." Before anyone could get the food out, they heard running footsteps and a light came into view. It got brighter and brighter. And then, the owners of the footsteps turned the corner.
