Janner woke up early to the sound of Kal tossing and turning. "Kal?" Janner asked. Kalmar sprung up and said, "Yes! you're awake! I couldn't sleep!" "Shh!" Janner hissed as he pointed at Leeli in her own bed. She was still fast asleep. Kal's eyes widened. He had forgotten she was there. "Alright I'm going to get ready first. I'll be out in a minute." Kal said as he made his way to the bathroom. He came out a minute later in his best clothes. Well, let's just say he tried his best. He had on the outfit that he uses in important royal meeting and things like that but his crown was on his head, crooked and his robe was inside out. Janner decided that he'd let Nia handle that. He grabbed his best clothes and got ready himself. Then when he finished , he went to wake up Leeli. "Hey Leeli. It's time to get up." He said as he shook her lightly. She opened her eyes and sat up quickly. "Oh yeah! I'll be right back!" She said as she grabbed the clothes for the day and went into the bathroom. "Let's go down to breakfast. She'll take a while." Kal said. Janner shrugged and they went downstairs. Artham and Arundelle were already there and seated. "Good morning!" Arundelle said with a bright smile. Artham turned his head and laughed. "Kal! Your mother is not going to like that." He said. Kal looked up in confusion and before Artham could tell him what was wrong with his clothes, Nia came down. "Good morning every- seriously Kalmar?" She said in disappointment. "The High King of the Shining Isle can't even put his robe in right?" Kal looked down and noticed it was inside out and when he looked down his crown fell off his head and thankfully Janner caught it before it hit the floor. Nia walked over and took the robe off him, turned it the right way and put it back on him. Then she got the crown from Janner and placed it on his head. "There. You boys look so handsome!" She said. "Now sit! We have to wait for the others." "You look nice to Momma." Janner said. She smiled and they waited for Leeli, Maraly, and Sara. Sara came down first. She smiled and said, "Good morning everyone!" Janner jumped up and helped her into her seat. Then he kissed her and sat down. "Good morning Sara." Nia said as she hit Kal's hand, trying to keep him from taking the bread from the middle of the table. "Where's Maraly?" Kal asked. Janner caught his eye and smiled. Kal rolled his eyes. "She's coming." Sara said. "I forced her to wear one of my dresses. She was going to wear her regular clothing and I knew that Nia would refuse anyways so I thought i'd save us all some time by forcing her myself." They all laughed and Nia said, "That girl has got to learn somehow." Then Maraly walked down and everyone was shocked. She had in Sara's pink dress and matching shoes. Her black hair was combed back, by Sara of course, and you could finally see her eyes clearly. Her hair was always in her eyes so this was the first time you could see them all the way. "You clean up nicely." Artham said. She groaned and said, "I hate this." "You look so good!" Sara exclaimed. "Yes you look amazing" Nia said. Everyone agreed and she sat down across from Kal. "What?" She asked when she caught Kal staring at him. "Oh umm, nothing! You look- umm- nice." He stuttered. She shrugged and they sat for a second and then Arundelle said, "Where's Leeli?" Before anyone could answer she came down the stairs. "Sorry! I lost track of time!" Everyone turned to look at her and stopped. She had in her best white dress and her hair was down with a pin on the side and it was down to her mid back. She had her whistleharp around her shoulder. Janner and Kal remembered the time at Chimney Hill when she came out like that and they all thought she was beautiful. They remembered when Podo said, "Mother moonlight she's pretty." They all missed him. "Wow." Kal said. She sat down and smiled. "What do you think?" She asked. "You are so beautiful!" Sara said. Then Leeli looked at Maraly. "You look so good!" She said as she hugged her. Maraly's annoyed face melted away. Leeli is just like that. She can make anyone happy. "Are you guys ready for today?" Nia asked. "Yep!" Kal replied. "Hopefully you don't freak out on the cliffs again!" Janner joked. Kal punched him in the shoulder. Artham laughed and said, "Well let's get going!" They all stood up and walked out of the Inn. The whole town was filled with people. Janner, Leeli, and Kal were amazed. They haven't seen the town this full since the last Dragon Day Festival years ago. Well, they haven't seen the town in years. "Wow!" Leeli exclaimed. Janner's eyes were wide and Kal was as excited as ever. Janner took Sara's hand and said, "We are going to walk around for a bit." Nia nodded and turned to Artham but he had already walked off with Arundelle. Nia said she'd walk with Leeli and Janner said, "Hey Maraly, I bet Kal would love to walk around with you for a while. Why don't you guys go ahead?" Kal looked at Janner hurriedly and Maraly shrugged her shoulders. "Okay sure." She said. Kal couldn't object now so he and Maraly started to walk away. Nia and Leeli walked off and that left Janner and Sara. "So. Where to?" She asked. Janner led her towards the food stands. "So it's true!" A jolly looking woman with frizzy blonde hair said in disbelief, "The royal family has come to Glipwood! What can I get for you, Throne Warden?" She asked as she bowed a little. "Yes we are really here. I'll take two chocolate cake slices please!" He reached in his pocket and she said, "No pay! Please. It would feel wrong to ask the Throne Warden of Anneria to pay for a cake." "Please let us pay." Sara said politely. "If fact. She reached in her pocket to and together the pay equaled double the amount they were charged. "Keep the change." Janner said as he and Sara walked off before she could object. They went to the field to watch the handy ball game and Janner looked around. He took a deep and he was happy. He smelled no hideous stench of Fangs and he did not see those terrible creatures lurking around the corner waiting for their next victim. Victims who should be with their older brother. Who have crutches and a little black dog. Who was grabbed for no reason and thrown around just because fangs could do what they wanted. "Janner?" Sara's voice broke into his thoughts. "You okay?" She asked. "Yeah I'm good. I just. I'm remembering the time I lost Leeli here. Still makes me feel guilty when I think about it." He replied. He did not realize he was breathing fast and his heart was pumping hard. Sara rubbed his back. "It's okay. It wasn't your fault. It was a long time ago. The fangs are gone now! Relax. You definitely deserve it." She said. Janner looked into her eyes and smiled. "How'd I ended up with someone like you?" He asked as he kissed her forehead. "I don't know. You just got lucky." She said with a laugh. "Yeah I did. I'm the luckiest person on earth." Janner said. Sara smiled and they turned their attention to the game. Then they saw a person make his way threw the crowd and heard the people's annoyed grumbling. "Pardon me friends. Sorry to be a bother. Just trying to get by." The man said. Sara and Janner scooted over and Sara said, "Oh you're not a bother at all mister!" Then the man stopped. He spun around and his eyes widened. "Sara Cobbler?" He asked. She and Janner stood and she said cheerfully, "Yes sir. That's me. And who might you be?" He laughed and said, "Its been so long! It's me, Arylun the Bard!" Sara and Janner's eyes widened and Sara jumped on him to give him a hug. "Arylum! I can't believe it's you! It's been years!" She exclaimed. Janner shook his hand and Arylum said, "I remember you, son. Throne Warden You have a sister and a brother. Song Maiden and High King?" "Yes sir I do." "So the stories are true! The Throne Warden has been brought back to life!" His eyes twinkled like a child. Janner smiled and said, "Yes sir and I'm great ful for it." Arylum nodded and said, "Well i better get going. I have a performance to get to." He said as he walked off. The mayor introduced him to the crowd and he started to play. Janner and Sara felt so welcomed. Like, they were wrapped in the song and they felt at home. Then, out of no where another whistleharp started to play. Janner, Sara, and the rest of the audience turned to figure out who it was. Leeli made her way to the front of the crowd and Arylum smiled. "Friends! I would like to ask you to give a warm welcome to my partner in the songs. The Song Maiden of Anneria! That is, if she'll agree to play with me." Leeli smiled and she nodded. Then they began to play. They played song after song about Anneria and new songs that were made after the Fangs were defeated. Then Arylum said, "That was beautiful your highness now I would like to play one more and I must play it. It's a song that I wrote. A song dedicated to the one who saved us all. Janner Wingfeather. Throne Warden of Anneria. Please. Mr. Wingfeather. Come join us up here." Janner was shocked. He had no idea that there was a song made for him. He stood up and helped Sara up and they walked together to the front. The rest of the family was there to. Then Arylum played. The song made Janner want to melt. It was played so softly yet so strongly. It was just the right song for him. He felt tears run down his cheeks. He knew this was for him. Then the song ended. Janner looked up at Arylum and said, "Thank you." "No. Thank you." He replied. Then everyone heard a rumble below them. The Sea Dragons! They were coming! Everyone scrambled to the cliffs to see the dragons. Nia hugged Janner and she said to him, "Look around. All this is because of you and your siblings." She said as she hugged him, Kal, and Leeli. The family walked over to the cliffs and they saw the waters rumbling. Then the Dragons shot out of the water and Hulwen was in the front. Hello Wingfeathers. It's been a while. She said to Janner, Leeli, and Kal in their minds. They all smiled in return. Then the songs began. The low humming felt that it would shake the earth to its core. It felt so welcoming and so inviting. They whole audience was silent. They were not just listening to the songs. They were feeling and living them. The Dragons sang old songs from all the lands of the earth. Every person felt the connection and happiness. Then the Dragons sang a song no one has heard before but somehow all knew. Tears streamed down people's cheeks and smiles shown on their faces. Then they all joined the song. Young and old. It was the most incredible thing that has ever and will happen in history. People from different lands, different backgrounds, sang together as one. The songs lasted for hours but none came close to the one that they all sang. They all felt a connection. They all felt at home. Leeli was softly singing along and if you were near her, you would have melted. Her voice was as sweet as honey and as soft as a feather. Yet at the same time, strong and fearless. That's how everyone felt when the Dragons sang: Fearless. Then the dragons began to sink back into the ocean. Everyone thought it had ended but they shot up into the air and the water was like rain falling on all the people. Their song lifted into the air with them and they splashed back into the water. The water that flew around them was like crystals in the sky. Hulwen was the last to go down but when she did she said Until next time Wingfeathers! May you go in peace. Then she disappeared into the deep waters of the sea.
