Janner charged at Lingston with his eyes blazing with anger. He raised his sword but before he could even touch Lingston with it, he dived away. Then he stood up behind Janner and kicked him in the back. Janner stumbled and fell down, dropping his sword in the process.
Janner stood immediately and tried to run to get his sword. He looked behind him and saw Lingston and Artham fighting. Janner knew his uncle was a great fighter but he could see the struggle. Janner quickly grabbed his sword and ran to help his uncle.
Janner wanted to tackle him but he sensed that Janner was approaching and moved out of the way. Janner couldn't stop himself and he ended up running into Artham. They both sprawled out into the floor.
"Pathetic." Lingston said with a laugh. "You know what? For Throne Wardens you two are terrible fighters. It would probably be best that you don't save your family. It's not like you could protect them anyways." He said as he advanced towards them and lifted his sword. Janner and Artham rolled out of the way. Janner could hear the blade slice the ground inches from his head.
Janner was angry. He was angry because Lingston took his family. Angry because he wanted to take more. Angry because he wanted to take his father's kingdom. That anger is what drove Janner to charge at Lingston with only one thing in mind: Esben. What would his father do if he were here? He would fight. Janner was done cowering in fear. He has been acting like a child. But Janner was about to grow up.
He kicked Lingston as hard as he could in the chest and he fell down. He was trying to catch his breath when Janner stood right above him. His sword was positioned right at Lingston's heart. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't end you know." Janner demanded.
He expected Lingston to plead for his life. To come up with a bunch of measly reasons on why he should live but instead, he smiled. "Because of Esben and Artham Wingfeather and their best friend Charles Lingston." He said with a smile.
Janner couldn't understand what he meant. Then, a horrible smelling mist filled the air and Janner watched as Lingston got away from him. He couldn't move. He heard his uncle scream in fear. Janner just sank to the floor and fell into deep darkness.
Sara heard the shuffling first. She stood in the pitch blackness and listened closer. Then, Nia and Galya heard it to. "I didn't remember! I didn't realize!" They heard someone scream. I light turned on and they saw Lingston. He looked like he had just been in a fight. "Good morning ladies. We have another roommate for you." He said as he shoved Artham towards them. "Artham!" Nia cried as she rushed to help him.
"How could I have forgotten! Why did I not see it!" He cried in dispare. "What is he talking about?" Galya asked. Lingston smiled and explained, "When we first took you, Sara, we spread a mist on you to make you fall asleep, we also spread mist in the Throne Room where everyone else was that way I could make an escape."
"Well, we also misted the room that Artham was in at that time. It made him forget. Forget that my family once ruled a kingdom far away. I was going to be the king of our kingdom one day. Artham here didn't remember that our families had an alliance. That our fathers and mothers were friends. That Artham, Esben, and I were friends as kids! At the word "friends" Artham covered his ears.
Nia looked at Artham in disbelief. She couldn't believe that it was happening again. He was losing himself. "Why did you make him forget?" Sara asked. "Because he would have ruined it all! If he remembered we were friends he would have remembered what made us enemies!" He yelled.
"We couldn't help!" Artham said with fear in his voice as he cowered on the floor. "Yes you could've! When our kingdom was in war with another kingdom, my father called for help from Anneria. He pleaded to his friends for help and what happened? Nothing. Nothing! Anneria didn't come and my father, mother, and sister were killed! Our kingdom fell and I was left alone! Most of our people died! That is why I'm doing this! That is why I'm here! I'm here for revenge against the Shining Isle and its people! And against the Wingfeathers!" He screamed as he walked over to Artham.
"You were my brother. Esben was my brother. Now I'm going to make you suffer." He said. Artham was shaking his head violently. "No. No no no." He said over and over. Lingston laughed. "Pathetic." He said as he blew out the light and he was gone.
"Artham. Calm down. It's Nia. It's me." Nia said as she tried to comfort him in the darkness. "We couldn't help. We couldn't help." He repeated. "I know. It's okay Artham. Calm down." Nia said in a soothing voice.
Sara bent down and put a hand on Artham's shoulder. "Artham. Please don't go back to the dark. Your name is Artham Wingfeather. Say it!" Sara demanded. Artham whimpered and cried on the floor. "Say it!" Sara yelled. "Your name is Artham Wingfeather."
After a long pause. They heard him say, "My name is Artham Wingfeather"
