Hanahaki disease: a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings (romantic love only; strong friendship is not enough), or when the victim dies. It can be cured through surgical removal, but when the infection is removed, the victim's romantic feelings for their love also disappear.

Me and kanao were having lunch together when I realized that the bell would ring soon so I decided to go to the bathroom before the bell rang

Tanjiro: hey kanao

Kanao: yes?

Tanjiro: I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back

I got up and walked to the bathroom, but what I saw when I arrived was traumatizing...

When I entered the bathroom I saw mui laying unconscious on the floor with blood and rose petals surrounding him

I picked muichiro up and took him to the nurse. I wonder what happened to him...

Tanjiro: pardon me!

Nurse: yes, what do you need tanjiro?

Tanjiro: I found muichiro laying unconscious on the bathroom floor!

Nurse: oh my! Lay him on the bed over there

Tanjiro: ok

Nurse: I'll take a look at him

Tanjiro: what is it? Is he alright?

Nurse: when you got there, was there anything odd?

Nurse: I see... I think Muichiro has the hanahaki disease

Tanjiro: hanahaki disease? What's that?

Nurse: when one suffers from one-sided love, a flower will start to grow in their lungs causing them immense pain. They will cough up blood and petals, but the symptoms get worse over time, until the flower gets so big that they can't breathe which causes them to pass away.

Tanjiro: that's horrible! Will muichiro be alright? Is there a way to cure him?

Nurse: There are two ways to cure him

Tanjiro: really?! What are they?

Nurse: the first way is to get the one he loves to love him back and the second way is a surgery, though he will lose his love for the other person
