There once was a family on a small island. They were a family of fishermen who, despite knowing the dangers of the sea, loved their job.

There had always been rumors of sirens who lived in the water and hunted fishermen, so there weren't many.

The Kamado family were some of the only ones who fished in those waters. Everyone relied on them to bring food.

But this story isn't about the Kamado family as a whole, but more so about their eldest son.

Tanjiro Kamado was the oldest of five. He helped out the most with fishing, his other siblings mainly helped their mother cook.

The second eldest, Nezuko Kamado, isn't as important in this story, but should still be mentioned. Nezuko mainly helps her parents with cooking and taking care of her youngest sibling, Rokuta.

Tanjiro's father did most of the fishing, but he was also weak and frail due to sickness. Because of this, Tanjiro did his best to help out with fishing, cooking, everything.

Why is this important? Well, you may need to know this later on in the story. It's actually important information, though it may not seem so.

On a warm summer afternoon, Tanjiro was out fishing. He had lowered his net and waited a little while before pulling it back up.

Tanjiro sighed. He hadn't caught much. It was barely enough for a meal, much less enough to help feed the village!

He still loaded the fish onto his boat and lowered his net once again. He sat there, waiting. When he heard something off in the distance.

It sounded like singing. Tanjiro thought it sounded beautiful, but he also wondered where the sound was coming from.

He was out on the ocean, away from the village and no one else ever came out here...

The voice seemed to get closer and Tanjiro just wanted to follow the sound. He looked around and saw a head pop out of the water.

But the head didn't look exactly like a human head. The ears looked similar to find and the skin was very pale.

That's when Tanjiro remembered the rumors of sirens that lived in the waters. But he didn't think this one was very threatening.

The siren, Tanjiro presumed, had black hair and blue eyes. He couldn't see anything below the neck, though.

The siren seemed to be the one singing and looked at Tanjiro before starting to swin away. Tanjiro just wanted to follow it, but he also knew what sirens did to humans.

The whole point of the singing was to captivate sailors and fishermen. To lure them to the siren's lair.

Tanjiro knew this... but he wanted to follow it. He wanted to see where it would lead him.

The siren looked back at Tanjiro, hoping that he would follow. The siren continued its song, waiting for Tanjiro to finally follow.

Tanjiro tried to resist following the beautiful siren. Its voice kept luring Tanjiro toward it. The siren needed Tanjiro to follow. If he didn't, then the siren would have to drown itself for failing its only job.

Tanjiro knew this, but still had to resist following the siren. Tanjiro, too, had a job. He couldn't let the siren lead him away to what would most likely be his death. Tanjiro needed to get back to the village with fish, if he was even able to catch any.

The siren continued to sing its song. Tanjiro still found it beautiful, but he knew he'd have to leave soon if he wanted to resist the siren.

Tanjiro knew he'd quickly have to make a decision. Should he follow the siren? Or should he quickly go back to the island?

Most people in this situation would have chosen the latter, but Tanjiro was somehow torn between the two options.

He soon realized that his family and the other people in his village would be worried if Tanjiro didn't return.

Tanjiro looked apologeticaly at the siren, who seemed confused. Tanjiro started going back to the island as the siren followed after him.

Upon realizing its failure, the beautiful siren had to drown itself. The siren sang one last time before sinking to the ocean floor.

Tanjiro was sad that s creature had to die because he left, but he didn't have much of a choice.

Tanjiro returned to the island and shared his stories about the beautiful siren with the village.

He wished the siren didn't have to die, but there was no way to prevent it without following it.

And everything dies at some point, death just comes earlier for some people compared to others.

Wow, this one's short. Sorry for the short, simple chapter. It might have been a bit boring compared to others, but I hope not. Here, I give you memes that I permanently borrowed from Pinterest:
