IT WAS NOW time for game four and cam huddled everybody up, "aight yall this the best team we gon play today, we win this we gon win the chip. you hear me? this is our championship game. this will be the best team we play. if they go man to man passing cut um attack the paint. theyre really not as big as yall they got one big dude number 23 and i would love to get him in foul trouble." cam started
lucas continued, "use yall pump fakes down low. if they go two three yall know what to do go middle uh inside out just go man to man full court dont press them but uh this our championship game yall nick, nate, lavar, evan, wes same starting line up.
cam finished, "lets go out there lock in. lets get this fuckin win, lets win by twenty. win on me, win on three 123."
"WIN!"
everyone walked over to the bench, nico standing behind nelson who was sat on the bench like usual. "lovebirds how many likes on this video?"
"aight yall we got 35k last video, and yall know me i gotta up it a little bit so 45k! sound good nico?" nelson asked, turning to her after looking at the camera
nico hummed, "honestly, yall can do better then 45k, lets go 50"
"yall heard them, 50k likes and we'll post the championship game if we get there, lets get it." cam told the camera before it shut off
nico watched the game contently, the other team had already scored but nico felt confident that they could do it
her hands were twirling nelsons curls like always, nelson found an odd sense of comfort in this. he also noticed how it stopped nico from biting her nails so that eased nelsons mind. he'd noticed alot about nico in the short time of them becoming friends
the ref kept calling some bullshit travels and just generally pissing nico and lucas off
it was odd, somehow nine times out of ten the siblings shared feelings if one was sad so was the other. when lucas was annoyed so was nico. thats the way it'd always been, maybe it was because nico always admired her brother or maybe it was just something they shared
they werent long into the game, the score still being quite low. 12-7
about 5 minutes later, nico stood next to nelson as cam and lucas coached
he leaned down slightly and whispered in her ear, "we could distract the ref and just be like oh shit a honeybun and he'll go running!" nico couldnt fight her laugh as she died laughing
once he told cam who just called him stupid, he pulled nico over and told the camera. "i said since were on defense and we dont wanna get foul trouble so i said tell him theres a honey bun on the floor so he'd look away and we get no calls!" nelson explained
nico started cracking up once again, hiding her face in his shoulder as he laughed. "nelson your so mean" she told him, lifting her head
"you're laughing though" nelson countered
"touche" nico nodded
THE GAME CAME to an end and rwe was on the way to the chip!! cam led them all back up to the stairs where he started his annual end of the game long ass speech
"game at seven we gotta wait one game. i dont who we playin lemme check, lemme see if they got it on the roster" he couldnt find the team name so he just put his phone back
"it doesnt fucking matter. championship game at seven, this is it yall. gotta lock in. i need this win, we're going home right after this game. we need a fucking win." cam told them
lucas began, "ima keep it real that game was our championship game, that was the hardest team we've played or will play. these other two teams were about to play or that we might play. i aint really worried. that was our winning game yall." lucas said as cam spoke up again
"im glad yall played defense, nick good fucking defense. had some good ass defense today. stay off yalls feet we got a game in 15 minutes lets break it down." cam concluded
"win on 3 win on me. 1 2 3"

NICO SAT ON one of the steps the team had been confined to during the 15 minutes intermission leading to the chip game
and she spent it on lucas phone, with her mom who facetimed her to show her what her room in her new house would look like
it was kind of difficult to hear her mom but after lucas gave her his airpods it was easier
"hey nico, whos that?" nelson asks, looking over her shoulder at her phone
"oh my mom, hold on." nico took out the airpods before putting nelson into the frame
nelson smiled politely, "hi nicos mom!"
her mom held a somewhat shocked look on her face which confused the teens. "mom? this is nelson" nico introduced
"right hi honey, im claire" she smiled politely through the phone. "glad i can finally put a face to your name"
nelson smirked, turning towards nico who was now looking in the complete opposite direction in embarrassment
"angel, have you told your mom about me? im honored, didnt know you liked me that much" nelsom teased with a huge triumphant smile
nico glared at him playfully, "trust me you arent special, ive told her about everyone. you, cam, lavar, giannis, nate-"
"yeah but she remembered my name meaning you mustve brought it up more than once!" nelson interupts
nico shook her head, "nuh uh, my mom is just really good with names." nico tried to defend herself but she knew it was no use
"anyways, mom would you wanna talk to lucas now, im sure he misses you" nico called lucas over shoving the phone to him
"hi mom!" he smiled before walking off with his phone
nico blushed as she noticed nelson still staring, "can i help you?" she tried to sound confident like she wasn't extremely embarrassed
nelson just smiled, "god i cant believe you talk to your mom about me." he teased
"i mean can you blame me?" nico asked, now making nelson blush. did she know where this new found confidence was from? no, but she didnt mind it.
nelson ran his fingers through his curls, "if it makes you feel any better my brothers niles and noah have heard about you. which isnt the same as a mom but they're who i go to for a lot of stuff so" nelson shrugged
"aww nelson" nico cheesed, nudging his arm making him look away while covering his face
"yo! stop flirting yall are like nine!" cam started as he stood behind them on the steps. they weren't flirting, were they? nico wasnt sure. "cmon we have two minutes before the chip game lets go" cam told them as they grabbed their stuff
