The light of the rising sun broke through the busted blinds, lighting up the cracked floor boards and haphazardly placed posters. Aidan, leaning on his cousin's shoddy desk, explained the past few days' events to Dominick. He told him about Elementals, about Drew, about Deanna, and about what was most likely happening in the town he lived in. Dominick looked at Aidan in shock, unable to move from the bed he was sitting on.
"And now that I know he's doin' somethin' here, I ain't leavin' until I stop him." Aidan stood up, a flame in his eyes. The electric boy slapped himself out of his shock.
"Then let me help you!" he exclaimed. "No one knows this town better than me!"
"And let you get even close to those damn Orbs? Hell no." Aidan responded. "Just leave it to me."
"Aidan, I'm the hero of this town! I've stopped so many criminals, what's one guy in a white suit?" Dominick stood up.
"One guy? One fuckin' guy?! Dominick, he's a god! A literal god! You haven't awoken your power yet, and you expect to do a damn thing to him?!"
"I can't just sit here and do nothing!"
"And I can't lose more family!" Aidan shouted. Dominick backed down, if only for a moment. "This is somethin' only I can do. Somethin' only I should do. I already lost my sister to him, I don't need to lose you and your parents, too." Aidan walked towards the door. "Don't try to be a hero, Dom. The last time I tried that, I lost Dea." He left. Dominick sat on his bed, quiet, and alone. He knew Aidan was right, that he was far too weak to help.
But, in the back of his mind, Dominick knew that even if he was weak, he was the only hero this town had. He grabbed his weapon, and his ragged hood, and set off. Both of the boys had no idea what Drew was planning, but the both of them were dead set on stopping it. Dominick took to the rooftops, bolting around, looking for more of those crooks, while Aidan walked down the solemn streets of the Rockefeller Single. He had a plan.
"Drew's movin' Orbs around en masse, it seems." Aidan talked with Grim. "I don't like what he's plannin', but I have an idea on how to get to the root of it."
"And what's that?" Grim asked, laying down and kicking her legs on a pile of garbage.
"He's havin' a bunch of goons move around the Orbs, but that doesn't matter. If I go around stoppin' them, then I'll never find the root of the crime. I gotta find out why. Who's takin' these Orbs? What're they bein' used for? Who's distributin' them?" Aidan unleashed his chain. "The first step is to find a trade, one that isn't bein' interrupted by either that spider or Dom."
"Didn't you tell him to stay out of this?"
"He's stubborn, we all are." Aidan responded. "The fastest way to find a trade would be to look closest to Dom's home." He hooked his chain around the rooftop, and quickly reeled himself in.
"Isn't that the opposite of what we want?"
"Nah, Dom is gonna fly off in a random direction to try to find somethin'. No, he's probably goin' to find the spider. An amazin' idea, especially since the last time he met her, she webbed up his gun."
"He's not that smart, is he?"
"What he lacks up there, he makes up for in heart." Aidan retorted. "Now, quiet down, I smell somethin'." The shadowy teen peered over the edge of the roof, viewing a few masked and hooded men pass over a rather smelly box to an individual in red.
"Good, now scram before we get caught like the other guys!" the red figure instructed.
"He looks important." Grim commented.
"He looks familiar." Aidan responded. "I saw him while lookin' at the news earlier. He's a crook Dom took in last night. Why's he out walkin' around?"
"Drew?" Grim proposed her thought.
