The crisp autumn winds blew through the rooftops of the isolated island off of New York's bay. Dominick sat solemnly on the edge, watching over his home city as Aidan talked with Sam.

"So, you're a... Spider Elemental?"

"Not exactly." Sam responded. "You know subelements?"

"There's gotta be better words for this."

"What, for subelement?"

"Yeah, like... authority."

"Authority..." Sam paused. "Yeah, that sounds a lot better."

"So, you have a subelement... of Spiders?"

"Yeah, that's almost right. I'm a Nature Elemental, but my authority is specifically over arachnids."

"Huh, so, you got anythin' else you can do?"

"I can make portals."

"Bitch." Aidan cursed under his breath.

"You alright?"

"Yeah." Aidan answered. "So, you know when the back-up Nicole mentioned is gonna show up?"

"I think I am that back-up." Sam replied. "She texted me just now saying to help you with the underground Orb experiments."

"Great." Aidan slumped a little and sighed. "How long you been here doin' this shit?"

"I got here a couple days ago and have been tracking suspicious deals around the island. Just recently, they closed down the ports to stop anyone from leaving this place."

"It seems Drew is plannin' somethin'."

"You got any ideas?"

"He probably wants Dom. Taking superhumans is one thing, but Dom is an unawakened god ready to pop with the right trigger, just like I was a few days ago."

"But why would he need superhumans for his experiments?"

"He's seein' what different Orbs do. I guess he's usin' mortals before he tries to mutate gods with 'em. Though, I thought he could only control people until recently."

"His Orbs do more than just control people. They boost the host's physical and elemental strength, making them significantly stronger."

"Is there anythin' else I should know about the big bad guy?" Aidan spoke with a heated, heaping load of sarcasm.

"Not that I know of. I'm just telling you what Nicole told me a few years ago."

"You've been an Elemental for a while?"

"Yeah, I've been in this ordeal for a solid few years, and I've been the 'council' as Nicole calls it."

"She named all of this, didn't she?"

"She's the oldest Elemental around, even older than Drew and his sister. We just kinda went with what she said."

"There's gotta be a better name than the Council."

"Hey, take it up with her, not me."

"Yeah, I get it." Aidan took a deep breath, looking up to the gloomy, gray sky. "Alright, you got any leads?"

"I already took care of a hideout where they were testing the Orbs."

"So did I, but I didn't find anythin' there."

"Neither did I. It feels like we're at a deadend."

Sam sighed and Aidan began to think to himself as Dominick stood up.
