mentions of self harm and dysmorphia (if anyone ever needs to talk just say the word and i'll come running, no one deserves to go through things like that alone)
minho had always been different from the people around him. it was easy to hide this difference however, the only people aware were his family and the people who mattered most.
he was lucky that they had accepted and loved him the way he was, even helping him out with it too. but that never stopped the itchiness, the need for a different body, the uncomfortable feelings that settled in his chest whenever someone brought something remotely related to it up in a conversation.
for a while, he escaped through a form of pain no one should endure.
the pinching feeling on his skin as he would carve line after line into his canvas. the feeling of blood dripping down, down, down. it all made him feel something. it got rid of that voice in his head telling him that he was worthless. it stopped all of those wasted nights that he spent in front of the mirror wishing he looked different. it stopped him from caring.
he soon realised through the help of his brother that there were other ways to feel better. other coping mechanisms that weren't so harmful.
so he started painting, actual canvases this time. and by all gods was he good.
so every time he felt different, he'd paint, expressing his feelings in strokes and dabs of colour.
it made his days happier, more colourful and bright.
by the time he'd met the people who would be his future, he was somewhat happy with his life.
he still hated the way he looked but it was slowly improving.
with the help of the people around him, he was finally beginning to start accepting the way he looked.
minho was finally happy.
