it was quiet in the small community, the lights in houses indicating a population, but quiet none the less. vampire's had always been known to be silent anyway.
on the edge of the town was a lone house, a little separated from the rest. a boy stood on the sidewalk in front of it, staring up at his childhood shelter.
the 'house' was cold and looked on the brink of collapse. it always had been. currently having no people, no electricity to bring it to life, nothing to make it a home.
it was a bit like him in a way. reserved, heartless, and empty. it wasn't because he was a vampire, despite popular belief, but because he hadn't ever experienced enough good things to be able to express his emotions in a healthy way. he rarely smiled, never laughed, and he was always hungry.
he tried to avoid eating as much as possible. feeding off innocent humans wasn't exactly his favourite daily activity, especially since it was only occasionally consensual. he didn't like the taste of human blood, it never quite satisfied his needs, it tasted slightly like rusty metal (don't ask), and it was thick. the feeling of it slipping down his throat made him want to vomit, and the sickening stench made him genuinely consider cutting his nose off.
this was the life of a rural vampire, it had been since the dark ages. though, the new prince of vampires kept preaching that he would change that once his parents let him take over, which would take hundreds of years unless someone killed off the unfortunately most important people in the vampire community. royal vampires frustrated all rural vampires, but seungmin wouldn't know much. he was a baby compared to how old some of the community was. he would turn 21 in roughly 7 months, finally to be considered a youth.
he would have to wait longer in order for him to travel through the world the way he had always wanted. another 29 years or else he'd be risking banishment. then he'd be without a home yet again.
his blood red eyes stared at that house, almost daring it to collapse.
it held onto too much memories, ones he would rather forget. he let out a sharp breath before turning and walking off.
he would leave this town eventually and he knew he wouldn't come back, so why not get it over and done with?
and so he did.
