Canis was a small little village that bordered the L'Agode Desert and resided in Trajare. Despite its size, it was a very wealthy little place. With the village lying so close to the sands of the desert, many glass blowers worked there. If a person wanted the best glass, they would order it from Canis for incredible work at a low rate.
This is what Canis appeared as to the outside world. To all the residents, Canis meant another thing entirely. To the people of Canis, the town was a national landmark. After all, it was the place that housed the successor to the Legend of We Three Magics.
"I said no Kyree!" Callum Young, Kyree's father shouted.
"But Father, the Demintreans have invaded Trajare! If this isn't the time to call upon the Legend, then I do not know when is!" Kyree argued back.
"You can't handle the Legend, not just yet." Callum calmly tried to explain to his boy.
"How would you even know?! We do not possess the Legend! It lies elsewhere! How could you possibly know if I cannot handle it?!" Kyree glared at his father. They have had this conversation over and over again ever since the war first began. Kyree always asked the same questions and his father always gave the same answers.
"Because you have not developed enough as a mage! You are not old enough!" His father had finally snapped.
"Not old enough?" Kyree drew his hands into a fist. This was the first time his father told him he was not old enough and it ignited a fire within Kyree that he had never felt before. "That...that is just ridiculous!" He stormed out of his house and ignored his father's pleas to come back in. As Kyree walked the paved streets, he received many hellos from his neighbors and friends, but the anger made him deaf. He walked all the way to his aunt's house, where the only person who would listen to him lived.
"Aunt Kayleigh! Is—" Kyree walked into the door to see someone just as bad as his father.
"Another fight with Father?" A smile crept along the man's face. He stood up from where he had been enjoying an afternoon tea.
"Don't start Louie," The woman warned him.
"I merely wish to know what it was about this time, is that wrong of me?" Louie's smiled only widened. "You fought about retrieving the Legend again, didn't you?"
"Why do you even care?" Kyree's voice was shaky. "You do not have the ability to wield it, only I do. It should be none of you concern what Father and I talk about." The smile faded from Louie's lips for a moment, but soon returned.
"It concerns me as your older brother of course," Louie walked up to Kyree and put his arm around his shoulders. "It does to our other siblings as well." He motioned the two that had been sitting on the couch with him. Kyree's sister, Demi, was the oldest of the four, she had straight brown hair that hung around her shoulders and pressed thin lips. Her brown eyes were staring hard at Louie. His other brother, Luke, was the second youngest, in a dare from Louis he had shaved his head. Despite being the second youngest, he was the tallest out of the siblings and worshipped the ground Louie walked on.
"Louie, stop agitating Kyree!" the girl shot up from her seat. "You shouldn't be teasing him because he doesn't understand Father's decisions. You should be helping him understand them."
"So you agree with him too?" Kyree's gaze shifted from Louie to his sister.
"You are the only one out of us four who can use the Legend, if anything were to happen to you should you try to use it too early..." she just shook her head. Demi was the only one Kyree actually truly cared for because she only thought of his safety and wellbeing. His brothers on the other hand only cared that they were not chosen.
