"Beware, little one. It's not wise to tempt the big bad wolf..."
———————————————————————————

Janeice continued to stare pitifully in the vague direction of Jason's exit. She waited for what felt like an eternity and she was starting to get anxious. Just what exactly is Jason's plan here? How long does it take to order pizza?!

Her mind started to wander a bit as the seconds ticked by. It was mostly silent with the occasional trill or meow coming from one of the felines. They weren't paying her any attention. Odd, considering two of them were still firmly planted on her forearms.

Speaking of which, the ragdoll and tuxedo cats weren't budging from their perches. If Janeice didn't know any better, she'd say that they seemed almost comfortable down there.

'Ah, my arms are falling asleep. I need to get them off before it starts to hurt.'

She tried to signal them by wiggling her arms. The red one just hissed at her, and had the audacity to purposefully sink its claws into her delicate brown skin. The calico meowed at it. Janeice guessed it was an attempt to reason with the irritable feline, but no such luck as it just hissed at him too.

Janeice was starting to get frustrated. Curse her curiosity, she should've just stayed home! Taking a deep breath, Janeice attempted to soothe herself.

'Keep calm, Janeice, don't let them see you react. Maybe they'll get bored and let go. Besides, Jason should be back soon.'

Several more excruciating minutes passed and she's still in the same predicament. Jason still hasn't returned, and the cats seemed content to maintain their ironclad grip. Janeice's arms grew increasingly numb and, as she predicted, were starting to hurt. The red cat's claws were sinking deeper, any more and the bitch will draw blood! Wincing slightly, the cat seemed pleased with her discomfort. This little...was it trying to punish her? For what? Existing??

Then, an idea struck her. She couldn't afford to reveal herself any further to these irritable brats, but perhaps she could use a subtler approach. These cats are different so she isn't sure how this will affect them, but it's worth a shot. The bubbling of blood under her skin is making her desperate.

Janeice began to hum, softly at first, barely above a whisper, before gradually increasing the volume. The cats turned to her, confused by her arupt singing. Good, she has their attention.

She didn't have a specific song in mind; however she was one for the melancholic. If one were to put words to her melody, it'd be a sad but hopeful song. One of loneliness, solitude, and vulnerability of the soul. One reflecting herself.

Janeice couldn't add acoustics, she didn't want to risk Jason coming back and blowing her cover, but she could manipulate her voice subtly. She sang a slow, hypnotic tune, counting in her mind—1, 2, 3, stop; 1, 2, 3, stop. The pattern repeated, with a few long, mesmerizing notes thrown in. Her voice echoed off of the walls. She added reverb and delay in all of the right places, creating a captivating, ethereal ambiance.

The cat's eyes glazed over as the song began to take effect. They were entranced by the melody, their little minds following the unsaid story while their gazes fixated on a distant, unseen horizon. They swayed in time with the rhythm, seemingly compelled to dance. They were lost in her song, each led by her voice into a dreamscape of their own making.

As the minutes passed, the Ragdoll and Tuxedo cats slowly loosened their grip on her arms. It's working! Janeice seized the opportunity, gently prying her arms free. They both dropped unceremoniously to the floor, completely oblivious to the fact that they'd let her go.
