Outside of the McGee residence, Pete is shown waiting for something at the window. Molly and (Y/n) go to him. "Whatcha looking for, Dad?" Molly asked. "Oh! Is it the ice cream truck?!" Scratch asked. "Whoo! Ice cream truck?!" (Y/n) asked. "It's here! It's finally here!" Pete said. They go out to the mailbox. Pete picks up a magazine. "Here she is: Midwest Monthly. I've waited four weeks for this!" Pete said. "Is that a magazine, like, with staples?" Scratch asked. "You know you can read it way earlier online, right?" Molly asked. "Ha! And miss out on that new magazine smell?" Pete sniffs the magazine. (Y/n), Molly and Scratch look at each other. "I don't think so! And now to find out which town has been named "Best of the Midwest"... Pete exhales. "Ooh! I think Brighton's got a real shot!" (Y/n) said. "I'm too nervous. You do it. No, I'll do it. No, you do it. No... You do it." Pete said. Molly takes the magazine and opens it. "Okay, I'll look. And the winner is...!" Molly said. Pete is crossing his fingers.

"Brighton, Brighton, Brighton..." he pleaded. "Perfektborg... Scandinavian Hospitality in America's Heartland." Scratch said. "Noooooo!" Pete takes the magazine angrily. "Perfektborg wins every time! Look. Brighton's not even in here!" He shouted. "Oh, it's not true, Dad! Brighton's in the magazine..." (Y/n) points at the map in the magazine that says "Bright" "Well, actually, just half of Brighton... But it still counts!" She said. "When did half count?" Scratch asked. "For too long, Brighton has been counted out. But no more! The next edition of Midwest Monthly will crown the "Best Fest in the Midwest" and it's going to be Brighton. Who's with me?!" Pete asked. "Ooh! Me! I am! I am!" Molly said. "Me too. I can't wait to see how this turns out." (Y/n) smirked. Pete and Molly try to high five but fail multiple times.

They decided to connect elbows and high five from there, and (Y/n) laughs. "McGees never give up!" Molly and Pete shouted. (Y/n), Pete and Molly take their proposal to the mayor. "I love it, McGee! Always wanted to take that smug Perfektborg down a peg or two. Wipe those "perfekt" smiles off their faces!" The mayor said. "All we need is a festival that will draw a crowd..." Pete said. Scratch shows up next to the Mayor's goldfish, accidentally scaring it to death. "We already have one. Turnip Fest!" The mayor said. "Ha! Good one! Oh, that wasn't a joke?" Pete asked. "Talk about dead in the water!" Scratch said. He notices the dead fish. "Ooh. Poor word choice." He tries to put the fish's soul back to its body but fails. "Sure, we haven't been able to fund Turnip Fest in decades, but back in the day, it was a real hit! Right, Goldie? Oh, sorry. Assistant Mayor Goldie." The mayor said.

"Bloop-bloop-bloop." Scratch said, pretending to be the fish. "Excuse me, Mr. Mayor, but we can't beat Perfektborg with turnips!" Pete said. "Yeah, turnips are just potatoes that went... horribly, horribly wrong!" Molly said. "I will have no anti-turnip talk in this office, McGee! Brighton was built on the back of the mighty turnip!" The mayor takes a turnip and eats it, struggling to swallow it. "They may not look like much, and they sure don't taste like much... but they're ours! Right, Assistant Mayor Goldie?" He asked. Scratch finally puts the fish's soul back to its body. "I knew you would" the mayor kisses the fish bowl. "You're my smartest adviser!" He said. The McGees are back home, they start to brainstorm how they'll make the festival happen. "Okay, all we gotta do is win Best Fest." (Y/n) starts to imagine the plan. "And that'll bring tourists. And tourists will bring... " she began. "Tourist money! Which means more funds to en-happify the town, winning us even more awards!" Pete said.

"Nice usage of "en-happify."" Molly said. "Hi. Reality here." Scratch shape shifted into a tiny godzilla to break Molly's, (Y/n)'s and Pete's illusion. "You're working with the turnip, which is what you'd get if earwax became a vegetable." He said. Pete and Molly sigh. "Guys, you know me, I'll eat anything. But a turnip? No way!" Scratch said. Scratch is quickly summoned by the Ghost Council. He throws the pizza he was eating to Molly. "I'm coming back for that pizza!" He shouted. Scratch splats on the ground, the Ghost Council waiting for him. "Oof!" He said. "Scratch, we need to talk." The first member said. "Your misery numbers," the second council member shows him Brighton's Misery meter, which is half-and-half at this point. "Are frankly... miserable." He said. "Yes. We've seen a rather disturbing trend of rising joy." The 3rd council member said. "Uh, yes, well, you know, I've been... I've been cookin' up something... really miserable. A Turnip Festival. Can you believe it?" Scratch asked.
