Sophie and Fitz landed in a back alley in London. As they brushed off the dust and walked out of the alley Sophie's insides churned.
"You okay?" Fitz asked her, squeezing her shoulder awkwardly.
"Yeah. I'm fine." Sophie assured him, rubbing her star-shaped scar.
Fitz's eyes lit up. "Hey, you know what would make you feel better?" He asked, practically bouncing up and down with joy.
Sophie was confused, "What are you talking about, Fitz?" she sighed. Sophie's mind really couldn't think right now. She rubbed her temples.
Fitz bumped into her playfully, pointing toward the same gelato shop they ate from when they first came here.
"Is that-?"
"A la Gelataria? Yeah it is! I was wondering if you wanted to get some?" He told Sophie, hope gleaming in his shimmering teal eyes.
"Sure!" Sophie told him, trying not to feel too excited. I mean, she didn't deserve it. Keefe was still on bedrest, and it was all her fault. No. Sophie shook the thought away. It was Gisela who did it, not her.
Fitz reached for her hand, twining their fingers together. Some girls behind them groaned.
"Hey," one of the staring girls said to Fitz, "Are you taken?" A/N This actually happened to me and my best-guy friend in public 😅 Fitz then leaned in close to Sophie's ear and whispered, "Just trust me, okay?"
Then, aloud, he told the girl, "Yeah." Sophie was confused, he wasn't taken right? Not that it mattered, I mean, ✨Keefe Sencen✨ But she knew he only said that to not draw attention to themselves.
The girl then scrunched up her nose in disgust, death glaring at Sophie. "By her?" she asked.
"N-" Fitz started but someone cut him off.
"No, she's mine." a guys said behind them, wrapping his arm around Sophie's shoulders.
It was Keefe. The other girls gaped. Then giggled. "Ooh, he's even cuter!" One of the girls said.
Sophie instantly felt angered and overprotective. She inflicted on them making them scream in agony. She clapped dust of her hands.
Keefe was just staring at her day-dreamily. "Did anyone else expect that? Cause I sure didn't Foster!" He laughed, shaking his blonde hair a bit, making him seem even cuter. That's when Sophie noticed that he was completely back to normal.
His bruises and cuts were gone and his voice was soft and cute again. The girls kept screaming and Sophie kept inflicting effortlessly.
"Okay Foster, I think they get it. Let's go." Keefe said taking her hand. Sophie finally dropped them and walked away.
"Keefe, why'd you come! I told you to stay!" She told him, suddenly angry. But more so worried.
He suddenly looked somber and took her hands in his. "I'm fine now Foster." He told her, motioning to himself.
Sophie shook her head. "Did Elwin approve? And even if he did, I would have rather had you rest."
"He did approve!" Keefe promised, then he was baffled. "But...why would you have had me stay back?"
Sophie bit her lip. "I can't - I can't lose you again."
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Keefe assured her, hugging her tightly when she starting tearing up. "You will NEVER lose me Foster."
Somebody cleared their throat. "Have you guys forgotten I'm still here?" Fitz reminded them, chuckling- A/N not in a bad way, I mean, LITZ. Sophie and Keefe blushed forgetting he was here.
"Okay, let's check that address!" Sophie told them both, dragging them to a small house nearby.
The house was pretty small. Red shutters and white painted walls. Sophie took a deep breath and knocked. No one answered.
Sophie carefully creaked open the door. It. was. stocked! The house had enough food to last for decades! But nobody was there...right?
Confused, the guys left the house and Sophie trailed them. But before she could walk out after them, the door shut. Sophie felt a zap and fell to the ground, frozen and in pain.
"Not so fast, Ms. Foster."
It was Gethen.
A/N I know normally I leave yall on a cliffhanger, but after all the suffering, HERE YA GO!
~5 minutes later~
Sophie thrashed and pulled but the ropes kept cutting into her skin. She could hear Fitz and Keefe banging on the door. Gethen smiled slyly.
"What do you want?!" Sophie snarled.
"We have...a deal." He told her, motioning for someone-or-something to come out of the shadows behind him. Mr. Forkle, Granite, Blur, Wraith, and Squall-a slow as elfly possible A/N🤣-stepped out.
"What sort of deal?" Sophie asked, palms sweating. Mr. Forkle stepped close to her.
"Sophie we need you to do a ... project in the Forbidden Cities, specifically Los Angeles, California."
"For how long?" she asked, not seeing what was so bad. Mr. Forkle bit his lip, glancing at the other collective members.
"We...don't know. Hopefully just 5 years." Sophie froze.
"5 years?! Just 5 years?!" She yelled angrily. Mr. Forkle continued in sorrow.
"We signed a treaty that agreed that if you did the move-I mean project, the Neverseen would stop the attacks and acts." It was Sophie's turn to bite her lip.
She didn't want to move, but if it meant having everyone she knew and loved be safe, it was worth it, right?
Sophie nodded. "Okay, I will. I'll pack up tonight and leave at midnight. I'll leave a note for Grady and Edaline." Mr. Forkle and the Collective teared up as they untied her.
Sophie walked out the door. "What happened?!" Keefe and Fitz yelled-asked at the same time.
"Oh nothing." she told them, biting her lip.
"Why didn't you open the door and come out?!" Keefe asked skeptically.
"The door got stuck." She lied.
Keefe and Fitz shared a worried glance as they light-leaped away.
A/N Sorry for the torture y'all!!
